Alex Rodriguez is tearing up the pitching in the AL. Look at this guy's stats, and we have a week left in April!

Is this guy a real Yankee yet? They were ready to run him out of town last year. Just wondering, or does it only count if he does this in October?
The guy is just amazing! If the Yankees don't want him, I think he'd make a great Cub!

He's well liked by most of the fans and as far as I know he's highly regarded by the team and team management. He's considered an A1 ballplayer. I highly doubt they have any plans to let him go,

I bring it up for the way that the fans got on him last year, and also Torre moving him to 8th in the batting order in the season. Also, he really didn't perform well, nor has he, in the post-season. Maybe things will turn around now. I for one would love him to DESTROY the single season home run record held by Barry Bonds.
Anyway, he's having a great year. Probably the reason they are doing as well as they are to this point. Their pitching sure isn't all that great.

Yankees pitching has sucked for quite some time now. It's nothing like the pitching of old or the pitching that they had in the the mid - late 70's when they had solid dependable starters like Ron Guidy and an solid relief staff with the likes of Sparky Lyle, Rich (Goose) Gossage and others. These days I guess the really good pitchers are spread kind of thin across the leagues and all the different teams. Plus the longer seasons probably takes it's toll. These days a good consistant quality pitcher is like gold.
New York fans are funny that way. They are impatient and when they see a star player fall into a slump they really get on his case. They fly off the handle so easilly. I often try and tell them, be patient, take it easy, give the guy a chance and he'll come out of his slump. New York fans expect a good ball player to give 100% peak performance all the time. Unfortunately in real life it never works that way unless your name is Babe Ruth or Lou Gehrig. Heck, even Ruth, Gehrig, Cobb, and all the greats had their bad moments and slumps too. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Yep A-Rod's a Yankee. Problem was he was more of a K-Rod than A-Rod the last few seasons. In three seasons, he struck out 409 times. That's once every 4 and 1/3rd at bats. Usually he got his hits when nobody was on and when the team was behind 2 or more runs. Otherwise he'd get his solo shot when we were ahead by 4 or more.
All this while making in a double-header what many New Yorkers make in a year... Yep, the boo-birds were definitely out. But it's good to see him producing with the pitching being so flat and the starting lineup on the DL. I think he's got a good chance of having a career year.
