OK, what are your favorite things? We know what your pet peeves are, now what do you enjoy?
As for me,
A clear night, a bonfire in my fire pit, and a cold one in my hand, enjoying the fire and the stars.

A good Miles Davis album.

Working a new one on 20 meters, and the feeling of breaking a pileup.

"The Planets" by Gustav Holst. I never get sick of it.

The feeling I get every time I see my kids.

A beautiful sunset, a garden full of rhododendrons in bloom, my XYL's laughter, talking with the kids, Vaughan Williams' Pastoral Symphony, Coltrane live in Berlin, the summit of a mountain when the cloud suddenly lifts, hearing six metres suddenly open like a door, the Northern Lights, the Milky Way.....Heavens! There are so, so, many - life must be good!

The essence of full blown Daywasting.
No direction
No focus
No questions and best of all
No plan.
I love it.
I have been trying to work with my son on this concept, and we actually make a pretty good team.

(I posted this elsewhere so sorry if you're seeing this twice.)

I have just the song for your son: "Wasted Youth" sung by Meat Loaf. Its refrain is "A wasted youth is better by far than a wise and productive old age." I'm surprised kids haven't picked up on that as their national anthem. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

...and as for my favorite things:

Flying ultralight aircraft;
listening to music (I have a large CD library);
watching movies;
motorcycle riding (street-only), and
stargazing in the middle of nowhere with a large, Dobsonian telescope.

Well, I don't mess with his tunes to much. If he wants to rap so be it, rap it is.
I have seen him stray a bit toward the blues and that's a good sign, IMHO.
My dad used to give me the crap look when I bought the Alice Cooper Dead Babies album knowing he was funding it so there ya go, I'll just do the crap look.
Anyway, he works pretty hard and sometimes I think it's good to do nothing but skip rocks in the pond if you want to. Probably won't hit a fish or anything.

Rock on with the Dob...I think that is cool too and we do a litlle bit of Nightwasting as well with the 10" light bucket on this end.

People who go into gas station convenience stores to buy soda, candy, cookies, cigarettes, cheap jewelry, ice cream, and lottery tickets, then pay for it with pennies or dollar bills that are wrinkled into little balls. I'd like to....no wait, it's supposed to be favorite things.

Peace and tranquility - Quietness. No TV, Radio or Stereo. No snarling 2 cycle engines. No traffic noise - just me and the wilderness with only the natural sounds of the forest.

Working the night shift all alone, outside on Field Day. Nothing but night sounds and the sound of 40 meter CW packed with signals...

I like mint chocolate chip ice cream myself. # http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I also like a good jazz trio, just the basics -- guitar, acoustic bass and drums or piano, acoustic bass and drums. #I also enjoy a good bluegrass band -- guitar, fiddle, banjo, dobro, mandolin and acoustic bass.

I like warm, spring days, puffy clouds drifting lazily across the afternoon sky, flowers gently swaying in the breeze -- oh sorry, guess that's the poet in me coming out again!

A good peanut butter & jelly sandwich and a tall glass of ice-cold milk! #(and maybe a couple of chocolate-chip cookies to help finish off the milk)

And my number-one favorite thing: #a long drive in the country.

I forgot to mention: taking a nap after the PBJ, cookies and milk. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

The list:

A good book

Early morning walk in the woods

A baseball game. Any game will do. Little league, major league, or a pick up game in the park. Even a bad day at the field is a great day.

An evening out with my wife, no kids in tow. (maybe that should be higher on the list)

30M rag chew

Evenings on the back patio
