Quote[/b] ]My name is William and we are going to explain how a CB radio works. A CB radio was designed to transmit and receive a circuit. Now when you transmit into the microphone your voice is converted into a radio frequency and it is sent out of the antenna. It is transmitted out the antenna to the receiver that is receiving your signal. The person on the other end with the receiver is receiving your transmitter and the person on your end is receiving their transmitter. As long as the radios are on both frequencies, the radios will communicate with each other. The frequency is very dependent on the time of day and the adjacent channel interference and the geographical area and terrain and so forth.

Now when you transmit into the microphone

As long as the radios are on both frequencies, the radios will communicate with each other

http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif??Them thar good buddies is using duplex now?

http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif?? CB frequencies know what time of day it is? Them's smart frequencies. That sentence made no sense whatsoever.

Some expert...

He left out how to install a leenyar, turbo echo super wack pack board, and did not mention you absolutely cannot run a CB without having a minimum of 18 feet of coax between your radio and antenna. Oh and never ever ever coil the excess coax up because it chokes the signal in the coax and wont let it get out. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Stryker Radio SR490 125w 10M DUE AROUND 5-4-07 (2502)

Stryker Radio SR490 125w 10M DUE AROUND 5-4-07

Due around May 4th. Price available soon.

Important Stryker Radio SR490 Features Include:

High Power Final Transistor - The SR-490 Stryker radio uses a single high power flange mounted 2SD1446 transistor that provides the user with 100+ watts Peak Power, after tuning. If you want be heard, the Stryker SR-490 10 meter radio has the power required to do some serious talking.

Digital Echo with/ Dual Front Mounted Controls - Provides the operator a much wider range of effects and control than typical factory or aftermarket echo boards. Our board is able to reproduce the human voice with virtually no distortion providing maximum clarity and enjoyment.

Two Different Roger Beeps - Two different roger beeps are included with the SR-490HP Stryker Radios. These are controlled using a switched that is located on the front panel. This is a feature that you will find on virtually no other radio direct from the factory. Most importantly the roger beep can be turned off when it's not needed.
Stryker Variable Power Control - Allows the operator to adjust or vary their carrier from one watt to over 50 watts PEP. This is a must have feature if the operator intends to use an external power device.

Stryker Variable Talk Back Control - The infamous talk back squeal is virtually eliminated with our independently controlled talk back circuitry. The operator can adjust the volume to the perfect level as operating conditions require. Best of all the user no longer has to turn down the microphone gain to stop the annoying squeal that is often the result of poor design or cost cutting at the production level.

He spoke nothing about how many SWRs you should be transmitting.

Quote[/b] ]Expert: William Mullowney's passion for communications and radios began at the young age of fourteen. Although he has never gone to school or taken a class on this subject, he has studied many books intensely and learned all he needed in order to work in the field. His career started in 1974 and he has owned a radio shop in Everett, MA since 1984. He has had a successful business for over twenty years.

I'd bet he could even study the "question pool" and pass a General class volunteer exam, now that he doesn't have to fuss with that damn code.

They forgot to say to hack out the limiter and turn the mic gain all the way up and use a power mic so it "swangs real good " and trashes all your neighbor's electronic stuff http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif

Yes. Truckers use CB in Philadelphia on I-76. I know I listen to them on 27.185Mhz on my VX-2R when I was stuck in traffic on I-76. I found out were to turn off (City Ave.) and Laughed my *** off at the trucker's comments. CB today is used more as a tool now and was more of a toy back in 1976.

Hello.

If you really want to stir things up get one of the simplex repeater units and connect it to your CB radio.
Park truck at truckstop and put radio on channel 19 (27.185Mhz).
Now, wait.

They left out the tradition of saying, "Helllllo, hellllo, testing, one, two, three, four... helllllo, testing... okay, Bubba, how's my audio now?" and the familiar, "Break, break, breaker one-nine, break, break...," and let's not forget, "...Yeah, good buddy, I got my new super-amplified mike here, so now you can hear me across four channels at once - sort of an inexpensive spread-spectrum system, you copy?" #More of a middle-age-spread spectrum system.
