I was especially touched by this part.
Quote[/b] ]She had to balance on her walker as she pulled out a snub-nosed .38-caliber handgun.

But she is a dyed-haired pistol packin' mama today.

Not necessarily, I know of several red-haired octogenarians who have kept their original color without resorting to dye.

Granted, this particular Miss America is a few decades my senior, my dark brown hair is now more Salt than Pepper, while my wife's Strawberry Blonde hair is a lusterous and luxurious as it was when we first met at nineteen years of age nearly a third-of-a-century ago.

Notice people of the 1940s stand up to bad A-holes such as the Man who gave his life at the VT shootings to save the students and this 1944 beauty who used a gun to defend her property. The only younger people who stands up to criminals are the ones in the Military, the Police, and those from the South. people today are too brainwashed to fight back except those on Flight 93. I'm not brainwashed, I beleaive criminals and terrorists should be shot on site by those being victimised and by the Police.
73 de Rick KC2ESD and yes I have Red Hair too.

I can imagine the look on the face of the person when she did that. Probably would be the LAST person you'd expect to reach back, pull out and fire.

loved the Miss America 1944 story. Now that's my kind of dame.

However, I think she would be to much for this crowd to handel.

She did the right thing and I would have done the same.

Article didn't say if she had an OM that was still living.

That's what used to be called a classy broad. Ladies of that generation learned self reliance early. My grandmother (Trix) was quite proficient with her .45 Army Colt.

(With tounge frimly implanted in cheek) She should have waited until the local authorities who are trained in law inforcement, use of weapons and techniques to arrive and not taken the law into her own hands. Who does she think she is, Miss Amerika? She should be charged with illegal possession of a firearm and assault. What is this country coming to when private citizens are brandishing guns about like that.

I'd like to see 'The Donald' try to strip her of her crown.

Maybe she might pose for the center fold wearing nothing but a holster. The we can argue about her worthiness to wear the crown.

That may have been some real eye candy in 1944, but today I don't think I'd want to see it.

I am impressed that she is that accurate using a snub nosed revolver. Those aren't the easiest handgun to hit things with I have ever seen. You gotta love the gal's spirit and independence.

Granny sez...
"But before I take your head off, eat your vegatables."
"I will whip your small ass, young man."
Been there, heard that.
It is true and they will do it.
