Radio enforcement to protect frequencies? Read on...

After putting in some thought I realized that the FCC really doesn’t have enough money to do such a thing as radio police. It is actually supposed to be the FCC’s job to do the policing. We can’t really ask permission to do this because the FCC is already trying to do so. What we need to do is volunteer to give the FCC clues about an illegal user. Keep a log of an illegal user. Try to catch what he says. His address or area where he lives? Where he works? His name, CB handle, or fake call sign he is using? Do some real foxhunting and put your experience to a good cause. We need to help the FCC. Don’t be against them because you think they are not doing anything to protect our bands.

Almost every day I hear people complaining about illegal CBers and the misuse of frequencies. If we really want all this to stop then this is what we have to do. We don't want to have anybody jamming our frequencies while they are being used for emergency traffic do we? Also, keep the bands clean and strong for our future hams. I want to enjoy this hobby for the rest of my life and I am sure you do to.

Missusers of the bands would fear being prosecuted and the FCC would put illegal users to a halt. All they need is help.

Whats your opinion on stopping illegal users?

Tyler.

I think we ought to track them down, ourselves. Once we find them, we, as a group, will outnumber and overpower any individual offender, so the rest is obvious...tie them to a chair and tickle them to death.

No judge has ever convicted anyone of outrageous tickling, far as I can tell. We'd get away with it.

Tyler you make some very good points.

It requires some skill and effort to track down the violators; we should be willing to do what we need to do to protect our bands.

It is certainly easier to kvetch, gripe, yell and moan about the miscreants than it is to take some positive action.

Might be kinda painful if we "tack" them in court. Would we just line up a bunch of thumbtacks on a chair in the courtroom and ask them to sit down?

Anyway, If we can bring these offenders to justice by the "carful," we truly will have done our jobs.

Peace out.

I knew about a General Class (years ago when I had my Novice) that was causing deliberate interference with certain operators in my area. Nothing better to do I guess.
The FCC did nothing then either. Everbody knew who it was.
Finally, someone made a copper wire bolo, fitted it with some fishing wieghts, and threw it into his antenna system. Really played hell with the tuning.
He removed it, with some effort, and it was reinstalled, most likely by the same guy that did it the first time. The problem child sold his equipment. Problem was solved.

I don't condone damaging equipment or malicious deeds to remove an offender.. but based on what I've seen/heard/read over the past 34 years..

Sometimes the local action, on the QT, by a few dedicated folks who take some directed and specific action (When all else fails) DOES make the miscreant stop, take notice, and regard the fact that they are the subject of punitive measures.

Amazing, though.. to note that when such actions do finally occur then tend to make the miscreant behave.. move, or get off the air.

Again I don't condone this type of action.. but I can understand it and realize that sometimes it is necessary.

Have a malicious jammer on the local repeater? Have a pretty good idea who he is? Track him down, just to be sure. Go sit in front of his house. Then announce - on the repeater - "Ok guys, I've DF'd this interference. It is coming from an antenna on the roof at 123 XYZ street. Anyone want to come here while I inform this person that evidently some accidental radiation is happening here?" After all, you were just trying to help right? Maybe his PTT was stuck. Or something. Right? Heh heh heh
