Here is a bit of info some of you might be interested in:
"Almost two years ago, when the US Supreme Court effectively ended his battle to retain his Amateur Radio license, Herb Schoenbohm--formerly KV4FZ--vowed to one day return to ham radio.
Following a hearing earlier this year to determine Schoenbohm's fitness to once again be an amateur licensee, it appears that the FCC Enforcement Bureau is willing to grant him another chance."
What do you think? Do you think Herb should be granted a license? If so, why? If not, why?
Interesting development in this "colorful" character's chain of events!

Sure, why not? His crimes only loosly involved the FCC, much less Amateur Raido.
Wouldn't take any wooden cookies, though.

BTW, who said an Amateur Radio license was an application for sainthood anyhoo? A quick search of the back grounds of any sampling of DX pileup occupants would probably yield worse real and moral criminals than he. cc http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

I think you've got your criminals mixed up. KV4FZ was one of the biggest problems ever to show up on 20 phone. That's why he lost his license.

Not sure of that statement, but he is one of the most "infamous" characters on 20 phone for sure.
But to really be subjective. I think that his "crime" of illegal phone patches is more of a criminal issue and not necessarily something he should lose his license over. But then again, I am not in the know of all the information that was presented, what exactly he did do, but I do know that he has a strong following and loves to be the center of attention in an open forum that he likes to continually stir.
I can deal with that. It's the intentional jamming, foul language, threats, etc., that I don't care to hear on the bands, and to my knowledge, Herb hasn't participated in those activities.
But then again, that is my opinion based upon what little I know of the situation and of Herb.
I do know he once was an avid Dxer, even hosting the Colvins.
Strange things.....
