Yes, I don't get that guy. He's fine for radio, but for NBC to have him on in the morning always seemed weird.

If I were the president of NBC, I'd cancel his contract.

Goes to show that there are some things that you just don't joke about. At least he didn't suggest some unspeakable murderous act, like another air personality did some years back.

Actually, his trademark irreverence aside, Imus is pretty decent. This strikes me as a blunder that happened in a rush to be comical on the air.

It's about time he be giving his walking papers. Obviously he pulled this garbage to draw a reaction. At this point it should be the last reaction he draws.

I can't stand that goof, but America is now the land of paranoid and correct little girls. MOMMIE, MOMMIE!! did you hear what that man said!?
It's quite nauseating.

You guys...Imus was hired as a shock jock, not for his exemplary brodcasting skills and professional voice...LMAO...Sooooo when he throws out a shocker, everybody goes into a tissy fit.
By the way...I don't think that there is anything in the FCC Regs about being politically correct...
Much ado about nothing on this one...

Honestly I'm surprised hes still able to do radio. I remember a few years ago hearing that his health wasn't that good.

He was one of the few at the time that would call people "stupid idiots" though. I used to listen when I first started working for cable, and got the oldest van-which only had an AM radio. This was 10 years ago in 1996....

It was the only station I could stand. It was him in the early morning, then Jim Rome (last I heard hes still going strong) then Don and Mike.

After the first year I got a newer van with FM. Stopped listening to him, but kept on with the others, mostly. Sometimes I would change if it got too goofy.

I remember him sounding really bad then though, almost like he was really sick sometimes. I didn't know he was still doing radio till I saw the headlines on FauxNews this weekend.

As for what he did, it doesn't take much brain power to realize that, in this day and age, its not going to fly. You think he would have learned from all the others making such comments and being raked over the coals.

Might be time for him to retire to his ranch. Forget where it is, but I remember him talking about it all the time.

I always thought though, if the Marlboro Man lived beyond 50, he'd probably sound like Imus.

Given the cast of characters involved in this saga, nobody should be surprised, shocked, or even awakened by it.

Imus will get a slap on the wrist for doing his job.
Al Sharpton will get a new twenty-thoudand dollar set of clothes and accesories for his next TV appearance.
Jessie Jackson will find a way to extort a vast sum of money from NBC to spend on his girlfriends and other personal extravagence, through the rainbow coalition .

And the black population will have gained nothing from its use as a social wedge while some whites will run around feeling guilty for having the same approximate amount of melanin that Imus does.

Totally predictable and self-rewarding for all of the players.
This crap has got to stop one day and some real issues need to be addressed.

But, it can be fun to watch.

Shock Jock or not why should this type of blatant racist mockery be tolerated ? Racism cost people their lives, why should it be mocked or used as the butt of a joke.

The really sad this is thatthese "shock jocks" are not even "shock jocks" anymore. They are not funny. If anything they are played out and boring.

I have lost count of the number of times that I have heard black men use this same language to describe black women. IMHO, it is time for this type of extortion to end.

Yep.
Imus has done this stuff for 30 years or so. It IS what he gets paid for, and he and the other cast of characters including Sharpton and Jackson aren't deviating from the script. Imus will end up donating a bunch of money to Rutgers, the powers that be at the school will arrange for a meeting with the team, and all will be well. Money for everybody, ratings go up, etc.
People seem shocked over this. Exactly why Imus was the first to be called a "shock jock."

Sure - Sharpton wants presidential candidates to boycott the Imus show... and go to the Sharpton show instead. And Jesse Jackson should pipe down. Maybe Imus made fun of him when Jackson got nailed for his 'Hymietown' joke, and this is his payback, I don't know.

What a wonderful gesture on Imus' part, offering himself as a human sacrifice on reverend Al's radio show. I heard #highlights of the show today, and #listening to these two idiots going at it was the best radio I have heard in weeks. The really ironic part is , Sharpton is a probably worst bigot than Imus could ever hope to be.

You're not serious! I guess you've never been to NY then, have you? Yes, that "nappy-headed hos" thing could be construed as a racist remark. Was it meant that way? Only Don Imus really knows the answer to that question. Again, it's the APPEARANCE of impropriety that we're really dealing with here.

It's like I said before, "It's not what you say, it's how you say it!" (Quote from my XYL)

Welcome to tabloid mainstream America. The real problem is that the people who know better (the ones with brains) are the outcasts, bad ones, trouble makers, especially if they say something about it.

We have this non-issue, and we have another non-issue about eight US Attorneys that the President can hire and fire at whim.

But meanwhile, there are no news reports about how the Vice President of the United States conspired to leak the identity of a covert CIA agent. That leak occurred; the agent was compromised; an entire US anti-proliferation spy operation was blown; and who knows how many helpful overseas assets were killed as a result.
