View Full Version : KB9POM, Wesley Cline
I responded to an ad by Wes Cline, KB9POM, in which he advertised trade AL-80b for a FT-920. I made a deal with him my 920 plus $100 for his AL-80b. I sent him the 920 and he sent me the AL-80b, BUT when I received the AL-80b it was crushed and I have pictures for anyone who needs to see how it was packed. Wes says a 3rd party packed the AL-80b. But Wes should of supervised the packing of the Amp. It had only one inch of p-nuts on all sides of a Amplifier. Unbelieveable. After many many e-mails Wes said he would send my 920 back, never got my radio. He now says 920 don’t work and he going to have fixed. I told him over and over just send my 920 back broke or not. HE WILL NOT SEND MY RADIO BACK.
Anyone need to see how Wes packs Ham Radio equipment send me a email
Ron@k4wz.com. I hope he makes good on his word. I see other Hams have had same problem with Wes. see wa4wip

I see Wes now has a FT-920 for sale but he will not return mine. Wonder if it is the same 920?

I know it's an obvious question, but was the amp insured? If a third party packed it, they may have insurance which covers it... at least it's worth looking into.
UPS is real quick to say it is not insured, but only a declared value. Yes it had a value set on it. But UPS is saying it was parcked very bad and not going to pay.
With one inch of p-nuts around a heavy amp, I can see why they said it was very badly packed.
Hope everybody will always pack equipment in a box and they put the box in another box just to be sure.

The question is: "Who packed the amp??".. That's who should be held responsible for the damage... If UPS did the packing, regardless of the quality of the job, they should be responsible..
I haven't used UPS services for almost 10 years... They damaged so many packages for me that I got tired of the problems.. The UPS driver once left a $2,000.00 radio at my front door even though the delivery required my signature..

In this case a UPS store inside STAPPLES department store packed package. It is still the responsibility of any shipper to make sure thire package is packed correct.
This amplifier was packed with only one inch of panuts.
UNBELIVEABLE........
I received my 920 back yesterday. BUT it was distoryed.
I looked at the box before I signed for package, it was fine, no marks on out side.
Opened the box and the 920 front panel was chrushed, tunning knob around the case was chrushed.
The 920 had to be distroyed out side of the box.
You can come to your own conclusion how it happened.
I know I will not deal with Wes Cline Kb9pom again.
