View Full Version : Political Coup on the Horizon
This digusting piece of legislation is nothing more than a coup on paper. #However, how close could we be to the real thing? Is this what we want, a congress and senate (no matter who is in power), to have the ability to hobble and make insignificant Presidential powers?
The enemy is watching.

More bad legislation, especially the tacked-on pork.
Hey, would YOU tell the school bully when you were going to exit the school building & when? NOPE, you'd sneak up on him with a ball bat & whack him! THEN you'd walk away....

Sixth grade is on the phone, it wants to know if you still have that government book from class and if so, please read how the powers interact.

It's about time that Congress stood up and started asserting its Constitutionally granted power and responsibility to provide checks and balances on a wholly out of control (not to mention incompetent) President.
More power to them!
And, BTW, could somebody define "win" and "lose" as it applies to our debacle of a mistake in Iraq?
What would we "win?" What do we have to "lose?"
Why have so many, many, innocent people died over this?
Are we this bloodthirsty as to need to kiil so many people for so little reason?

We lost more people in a single day during battles in WWI and WWII and more people in a week during Korea and Vietnam than have been lost during the entire Iraq/Afghanistan conflict to date. On one very bloody day during the Civil war (Antetam) the Union casualties alone were 27,000. With the possible exception of WWI, politcal means could have avoided all the others if the various leaders really had wanted to.
I am really not sure if there is a politcal solution to what is going on now. Getting out rapidly is going to result in even more ethic based killing than now with neighbor states vying for control supporting different factions. It will likely lead to more attacks against US interests in other locations including here. Staying will require years and years and may still not create a stable region without a permanent prescence nor totaly prevent attacks against us elsewhere although it seems most of the energy is directed against us in the region.

I think it's about time that you made it so that one person can't rule the entire place...the political system over there seems at times to be more or less a democratic dictatorship...you voted him in in the first place and now he does whatever he want's no matter what anyone thinks. The man already thinks that he rules the world. it's about time that your elected commitee(congress) took some power

I don't agree with setting a timetable, either, but it's a bad idea whose time has come.

I agree. It is only a matter of time before some democratically elected psycho presses the doomsday button.
It's not a coup.
It's our Republic working the way it's supposed to.
Don't like it Bill? Then why do you hate America so much?

Now translate it from the French just so they can understand it.
Some of us do have the benefit of an advanced education. Others, as evidenced by their misspellings and mixed metaphors, do not.

Somehow I feel better about the House MILF making military decisions as opposed to someone who spent his military career staying out of Vietnam.
I'd offer an opportunity to stand corrected on this matter, but apparently his military record is still conveniently AWOL.

K2WH, I do not have a good answer to your question. But i do have (what I think is) a good question: "Is this what we want, a president (no matter who is in power), to have the ability to hobble and make insignificant Congressional and Senatorial powers?"
Too late. It's been like that for over 6 years.
