About time! As I remember the stats, this group had the lowest bomber losses of any fighter escort group in WWII

Anyone, whatever their colour or race, should be recognised as a war hero if they flew in combat against an enemy such as the German Luftwaffe. There were many young US airmen of the USAF who volunteered to fight in Europe and flew in daylight raids all over Europe during WW2. They will always be remembered in Britain, perhaps not by youngsters, but by those who realised in those dark days how brave they were.

The Tuskegee Airmen are truly part of "The Greatest Generation." Many in America and Europe will be forever indebted to them for their service to our nation and to the world.

BTW, to see where these brave men trained to fly aircraft, the airfield coordinates are 32.49N, 85.77W . Note: If you're using "Google Earth," the airfield is a little on the fuzzy side but you can still see most of what's left of this former Army Airfield.
