There's been a guy using my call sign here in phoenix for months now. He was tracked several times. Reports and tapes were sent in yet the interference comity still dose nothing. When I e-mailed Hollingsworth it took THREE WEEKS for him to give me a one sentence reply. He simply said "I'm looking in to it" and spelled the word "looking" wrong. Thanks for nothing. Anyway, for thoughs in Phoenix wondering who the freak is that is all over the bands jamming and using other peoples call signs, his name is Timothy Harold Hoffman. His QTH is 15443 N. 39th ST. He jams daily on the 144.660 simplex freq and the 146.94 repeater. He also likes to hang on 27.555 USB. He dose not have, nor has he ever had a ham license. And was popped by the FCC once before to the tune of $6,000 back in 1994. Over a dozen reports have been filed on him in the past 2 months and getting more of the Phoenix Ham community involved would be a good thing.

I feel that the members of the ARA interference comity should step down if they are not going to do what they have pledged to do. I've done more recording and filed more reports on that moron than that entire comity has. If they are not going to do what they are suppost to, what we other hams count on them to do, then they should step down and let some folks in there that will get the job done. Same goes for Mr Hollingsworth. We have a big problem here in Phoenix with this Hoffman guy. If Mr. Hollingsworth is not going to assist then put somebody else behind that desk that will. The Hoffman problem has gone way past ridiculous. If the FCC and the ARA isn't going to step up to the plate and do what's right, they need to change the line up.

I imagine the FCC are quite busy with the staff reductions. BUT since the person you stated has been fined before the second time will be a killer for him.

Just have a team trace down and document the Malicious Interference to his house. Document the facts once again and send them to the FCC.

When they come knocking on his door the second time the monitary fine will be considerably more than 6 grand and possibly he will be looking at some court room time as well.

Be patient the bad they do die slow.

If about 20-30 hams (the bigger the better) pull up in front of his house and one (a little guy, to be nonthreatening) goes up and knocks on the door, and tells him politely that "We all know who you are and where you live and if you key up on the ham bands again, we will all discuss it personally with you" he might get the message. At least it will put the complaining shoe on his foot and since he has a local reputation no one will feel sorry for him that a local group of citizens are going to set him on the straight and narrow path. These jerks have learned through years of bullying and misbehavior that if they know when to back off for a little while, until the authorities lose interest, they can get away with anything.
A volunteer group with prominently displayed antennas can make a habit of driving by his QTH on a regular basis. This is really good if it can be plausibly considered a route to work or to a neighborhood mall or such.

There are or seem to be enough to follow up on your sugestion, however, it ain't strictly leagle. Particularly not in the "peoples republic of Maricopa county".

The trick is to overwhelm the FCC with complaints and let them handle it.

You are not suggesting vandalism to someone's automobile on private property are you Wally? #If you are I would suggest you wear a bullet-proof vest and if that fails make sure you have your ID on your person for identification so the Coroner can identify you and contact your family without delay. #I think such advice is ill-advised and quite dangerous. #I also think the property-owner would be well within their rights to act accordingly to such an attack. #Dykes could be considered a deadly weapon and in the dark who knows what they look like to a property owner. #Anyone following that advise would be taking their life in their own hands.

There are a couple of other forums, local with respect to the above mentioned boob, on which some anonymous posters are more than just threatening. Some of Mr. Hoffman's neighbors seem to be quite dissenchanted with him.

Perhaps Mr. Hollingsworth would be doing him a favor by seeing to it he is put into prison.

Although some of the posters on some other forums may have the ability to reach out and touch him even there.

While I agree that most Amateurs are thinking, peace loving individules, there are lots of folks from all walks of life on the bands and some of us (oops) are best left to our (oops) happy, uninterupted, hamming.

I know a bunch of CBers, all of them are good people and don't fit the stereotype, who have a nice, clean, noisetoy-free 4 watt channel they operate on. Well, a group of trailer-trash jerks decided they wanted to talk skip on that channel and ruined it for the rest of them. some of the local hams were frequent visitors of this channel since it was a great place to get traffic reports and such so some of them decided to volunteer to DF these wanks. After a few weeks of DFing the addresses were crossed referenced with names as listed in the phone book. When someone who is 1000 watts tall and FCC proof behind the mike suddenly hears their first and last name followed by "shut up or else were going to shut you up" they tend to become silent and move to another channel. The one idiot who didnt follow suit ended up having gay porn mailed to his neighbors address in his name a few times. he got the hint and shut up when someone asked him if he had updated his subscription yet... Porn really does have its uses!

The gay Porn works great in almost any situation... annoying co-workers, they guy whos up at 3 AM on a tuesday morning testing out his new motorcycle exaust while everyone else trys to sleep, freebanders, jammers, the kid who stole your lunch money in school, the used car salesman who ripped you off, and number one on the list of *victims* is the neighbor who woke you up at 6 AM on saturday just to tell you that your CB radio is screwing up their phone even though you only have an HT and a j-pole on the sewer vent... but then you send the porn to the real CBer in the annoying neighbors name and to the annoying neighbor in the CBers name. I've got many ways to get the hint across to people that they should stop. There's one flaw in that whole thing. The Gay Porn rags come enclosed in private-type wrapping. The only way someone would actually know the contents is by opening the package, so to speak. That in itself is a Federal Offense, if you are not the intended recipient.

I'd have to say the sending of gay porn, and having the neighbors wonder why you are getting it, is just another Urban Legend.
