I have Juno and I clicked on one of the ads yesterday... Guess what I did - I downloaded a program which works with a free 1877 number and tells you when someone is trying to call you but your phone is busy because you are on the internet. It works great and its all free. The only problem is a box is always there when you are on the internet showing you ads. Otherwise it is a very cool tool. see the program and test it out -

P.S. I am not an employee of call wave I just thought this was a cool service

This is a standard feature of many low-cost telephone programs such as MCI's "Friends & Families" program.
$49.95/month, unlimited calls to anywhere in the 48 States, anytime, no per-call charge. And it comes complete with electronic callwaiting that detects if you're on a computer modem and if so, answers the phone for you without interrupting your computer/modem operations, takes a message, and then stores it for play any time you wish. No screen ads, no pop-ups, no nothing, it works behind the scenes and you don't even know it's working until it lets you know you have a message. The program also includes about a dozen other features which are normally extra-cost, but rolled into this package as standard.
I have nothing to do with MCI, or any phone company. I hope they stay in business, with all that's going on in the industry! But in case you didn't know about this "non-interrupted computer modem" service that's thrown in for free as part of a low-cost calling package, there's one you might consider.

I go on line so calls will be refered to a voice mail service provided by my local Telco.
I tossed the access info for the service!
Don't want a program that defeats that purpose!

This is an excellent little program. I just downloaded it and ran it. It is amazing what it discovers. I like the registry cleaning feature. I know alot about windows operating systems, but I have screwed too many computers up by "tweaking" the registry. This program is under a megabyte in size and won't take very long to download. After it checks your system it will list the files it discovers and will give you the option to back them up before you delete them. Nice feature. I recommend at least checking it out.

Hey, I pay for phone service for my convenience, not everyone elses. If you can't get me on the phone, then you should have used the radio in the first place.

Give it time, they'll figure it out... or get the latest update. I recommend the auto updater found on the same site. The definitions that ship with it is pretty stale.

You people are still hooked up to land lines? #LOL #So am I but not for long. #
As for telemarketers this is what you do. #First of all you ask if this is a business or personal call. Then you ask the telemarketer what their name is. #You ask them to spell it. #Then you ask them the name of the company they work for. Ask them where the company is located and #ask them to spell that. #Then you ask them for a billing address. If they won't give it to you then you ask for their company expense account credit-card number. #If they ask you what you need this information for, you explain to them that you bill your time @ $40/hour in 5 minute increments and 15 minute minimum. #They have already run up a bill for $10 and you need to know where to send the invoice. #They will then usually ask you to speak to their supervisor or hang up. #Go through the same thing with the supervisor. #Usually they hang up before you get too far. #I have never had one stay on the line all the way to the end the second time. It's a lot of fun and they will never call you back. I don't get many telemarketers these days calling me and this method works much better and is faster than asking to be put on no-call lists.

I still do not understand why you don't just buy a cable modem. They are 50x as fast, don't tie up the line, don't make the "BEEP BEEP BEEEEEEEP SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH BEESHHHHHHHHHHH" sound, and it's only $15 more! It's well worth it. I don't think I could ever go back to using a 56k modem again, it's way too slow...
Also, the AdWare program is very selective of the kind of OS it uses. First, it's a pain to find the actual download on the site. I have 3 Mac's and 1 Windoze Comps. Personally, Windoze is the worst OS I have ever used, but I'm not going to go into that. Anyway, there is no Mac download, and it will not work with my Win98 or my Win2000 computer. It says something like "Unrecognized OS". At least that's what it would say on my Mac, but on the PC it would probably say "This program cannot run because the win.000 file cannot be found" (which is a stupid because the computer is using it right then!http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif ... For now, I will just stick my dual-boot computer back into my closet where it will stay untill I am ready to try again with the devil's OS... What will be the next candidate on "The world's stupidest computer"http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

I agree with you totally, QIS. Cable modem is hundreds of times better than dial-up and is definitely worth the extra $10-$15 a month. When we first got it, the installation guy said, "Ok, let's try it out." He typed in www.aol.com and BOOM! There it was! My jaw almost hit the floor.
The only drawback of cable that I can think up is that when you get on a compy with slower internet (i.e. the ancient macs at school http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif ) and you're practically tearing your hair out when it is loading picture.......by picture......by picture.....

Isn't cable only for like big businesses with like hundreds of computers?
Either way for the amount of time I use the internet I think call wave should cover the missed calls -
I have three places to use the internet - Work, School, Home

No. It runs on the same coax that delivers your cable TV. I have it in my office at home, and love it.
