Who do you vote as having been the most beautiful and hottest actress of the vintage silver movie screen ??

My picks are Rita Hayworth and Veronica Lake both were breathtaking in their prime days of the silver screen. I also liked Linda Darnell and and Yvonne deCarlo. But Rita and Veronica were in my opinion totally drop dead kick ass gorgeous !!

Goes without saying that Hayworth was one of the most beautiful gals to grace the silver screen, but if you go back a few years to the silent, B/W era, you will undoubtably recall Charlie Chaplin's wife, Paulette Goddard.

In truth, there were so many glamorous actresses in those days, it would be difficult to say who was the "most". They really knew how to make gals beautiful, and light them and photograph them without the help of color for the most part, until the real late 30s and into the 40s !

Contemporary, Katherine Zeta Jones
Golden Age, Rita Hayworth
50's, Jane Russell, for a couple of reasons.

Ingrid Bergman, esp in Casablanca was very attractive. In her early days Katherine Hepburn was almost breathtakingly beautiful. In the 50s, Grace Kelly would be hard to argue about and in the 60s I would have to vote for Audrey Hepburn. Later on, and for a lot of years Faye Dunaway was (and still is) as glamorous an actress as you could find in those days. There are a lot of present day actresses that seem to mistake sexiness for glamor and beauty but there are few I would call truly glamorous. For just pure hotness, Zeta-Jones, Selma Hyack and Penelope Cruz rank right up there. But my all time over all favorite would be Sophia Loren. Even in her mid-70s that is one hot and beautiful woman.

don't remember too much the silver screen but when you talk about beautiful and hot, I'd say Salma Hayek, Catheryn Zeta-jones, Mary-Elizabeth Mastrantonio, Lucy Liu.

However, Jodie Foster is one of my longtime favorite, since I discovered her in "foxes"

Let me not forget to mention Bridgette Bardot. In her heyday she was hot enough to set the movie screen on fire.

I always thought Barbara Feldon of "Get Smart" fame was pretty darned good looking. I loved that pageboy haircut she used to wear on the show, and in real life from what I have heard.

Actually poor LL may have been responsible for the flicks selling well but I don't believe that she had much to do with the marketing aspect. As I recall she didn't get paid a whole lot for her acting skills.

As a personal aside - I never understood the fascination with porn flicks. After I saw my first porn film my curiosity was satisfied and afterwards I'd as just as soon watch paint dry then watch another porn flick.

You said a mouthful. ;> (Sorry, I couldn't resist.)

I thought LL died of liver cancer, not a car accident...not that either one is a great way to shuffle-off one's mortal coil. In the end she said she regretted doing the whole porn thing since her notoriety far exceeded her pay.

...but I'm with you: it doesn't do a thing for me, either; I'm one for participating, not observing. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif However, I get a kick out of reading porno movie titles—some of them are hilarious...99% of which I can't repeat here.

If you want a few giggles watching a hard R-rated but shy of an x-rated porno, there's always Flesh Gordon. (Yes, it's on DVD.) Back in the early 1970s, when it was shot, it cost over $2,000,000 to make it...which wasn't cheap by any movie standard!

I remember my ma visiting me once and I told her to crank up a movie while I was gone running a few errands. Well, she just happened to grab Flesh Gordon thinking it was Flash Gordon. She cranked it up and...well...when I returned home just as the movie ended, she turned to me and said, "That's not how I remembered it!"

When I asked about "actresses of the silver screen" I was pretty much referring to those who were in black & white (or colour) films during the silent era up through the 1930's 40's, 50's and at most the very early 60's ... cuttoff point about 1963, approx about the time of the end of Marilyn Monroe's career

However, I guess for many the 1970's and 80's are a rather long stretch back so I guess we can say that the actresses of those years can definately fall into the "vintage" category.
