I have downloaded the Commander program for my vx-7r. I have seen that there is the ability to do freeband mods with no disasembly.If this is possible will this affect any inpput or output power levels set at the factory?

No idea for the Y radio ... I have used it for an Icom .. but not those particular mods. If you are in the USA you can listen to your hearts content ... you just cannot transmit out of band legally.
When you have your license and sign it, you are saying you have read and agree to Part 97.

Hello.
Both the hardware and software mods have no effect on the factory settings whatsoever, they just set the band edges on thansmit and cellular receive lockout, nothing more.
No effect on power.
I use it and was able to increase freq. range to FRS
