True. I was going to go there but feel asleep before I could. Been up way too many hours in the last few days with this storm and such.

Obviously you weren't on 40M. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

In this part of the country (Texas) the SSB activity on 40 meters wasn't that much more than on any "normal" weekend. The usual Central and South American stations were "run off" by the contesters so the level of activity wasn't that much greater.
Even then I only heard a few stations operating much below 7050 KHz and those were generally running pretty low power (i.e. around 100 watts). The Extra portion of the band was pretty much clear in terms of SSB and the first 25 KHz of the Novice, Technician, General, and Advanced Class portion had room for quite a few CW QSOs.

Amen.
See my comments in the How is everyone doing so far this weekend? thread.
Now, a couple of weeks relative silence until the circus comes back to town at the end of this month (The WPX contest). The 40M band will be full of overdriven, splattering stations all the way down to the lower band edge.

hmm I certainly worked no one...other than my usual PSK stuff. I couldn't hear anyone who was transmitting with less than a kilowatt so they certainly would not be able to hear me...so I moved to the digital and CW portions

I tried to work some PSK on 7070 but the gators were just wiping out the PSK sigals. What a difference when the contest finally ended. Had to escape to the WARC bands and luckily, the 30M band was quite good.
Did anyone else hear the morons using CW to deliberately try and interfere with ongoing SSB QSOs on 40 meters? There are definitely better ways to waste your time...

Yes, heard the opposite too. Neither is productive. Heard frequency wars on 75M as contesters moved in on ongoing QSOs. Polite advisements that the frequency was in use resulted in the QSO group getting QRMed for an hour after. Heard some person moving up and down the band QRMing any non contest QSO. So here it is after the great code test change and 75M has gotten alot worse in one week.
