Is everyone able to get into "New Posts" and "Search" now.
Or is everyone still locked out like I am?

That's because your a Subscriber.
Ham members can post, but no "new post" or "search" functions.
Plain "members" can't do... "Suff"
Until Fred changes it back... well here we are. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

4JX ... This has been posted on the forums in many places .. as has been said, those who are Subscribers, donate money to QRZ. Ham Members do not, but you can donate and not be shown as a Subscriber. Your choice. I figure if I can afford 2 or 3 radios, I can certainly afford to help the site.

Thanks everyone, for your kind comments. To answer a few of the questions thus far:
1. Yes, the new machine has dual power supplies :-)
2. The Search feature has been temporarily disabled for most accounts. The reason is that the new server is so much faster that it's swamping the back end database machine with requests. The article search requests in particular are compute intensive and tend to load up the database server quite a bit.
To fix the search problem, I've today ordered a replacement server, an x4200 Sun and will be retiring the E280R which has been running non-stop (without reboot) for the past 506 days. The new x4200 is several times faster and features two dual-core Opteron processors (model 275). In addition, I'm contemplating removing articles thar are more than two years old. Right now we have articles still in the database that are 5 years old. This would speed up things as well.
That's all for now. I'm still working frantically on all this to make sure things are done right.

So...Am I correct is thinking that if an individual sends in some money as a donation, they will be able to utilize the forum as previously, prior to the crash; and have access to 'new posts' rather than go into each forum individually and see the posts ?

I have very severe carpals tunnel and I
CANNOT
click into every forum without suffering for days.
quite often I'm typing with one hand, I'm on dis-
sability and DON'T have spare money to give.
Can the "Power that Be" make an exception for me?? ?
Please?
Thanks

Hello.
I am not sure of the policies of the board, but,
If I can get the OK, perhaps you can log in under my user name, to allow you to search?
I would think that the admin wuld not want you to post as I, so this would mean you would have to log in and out as needed.
So, what are the policies on this?

I could log in in your account, then I couldn't post or whatever I said they people will think you are saying it. So if I want to post, then I would have to log in as me again. All this monkey business would be 3x more clicking around than just clicking in all the forums.
But thanks for the offer though. I appreciate it. Too bad you aren't one of the honcho's at QRZ, then you could get me set up with new posts and I could use this thing like I did before it went down.!!
