Well, I'm up on 28.400... there's something way down in the noise, but the ol' FT-101 doesn't have all the notch filters and DSP, so I can't pull it out.

I knew someone would try to turn this into an ANTI-CB flame!!! I just like to monitor 27.385 LSB, that's all.... What's so bad about that?? It has proven to be a pretty good indicator that 10 may be opening without chasing beacons....

Anyway... I called you Dave, but nothing heard...

10 has had sporatic activity all afternoon.
I worked PJ2/WE9V in Bonaire/Curacao earlier this afternoon/evening, and heard TI8II in Costa Rica at about the same time.

I had no trouble working KK6D this afternoon while mobile (28.325), but, as soon as we started to QSO, the bottom fell out, oh well. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

Yesterday, 2/27, I was mobile in central California (truck driver) when I heard a Florida station on 28.385. I could not hear the stations he was talking to, however. Today I heard some W6 stations on 28.490.

Both times, I was about to get out of my truck to load equipment so I was unable to attempt contact.

From 23 Feb 07 until this afternoon, I haven't heard a peep on ten meters with my new, band-warming "welcome to HF SSB" dipole. Unfortunately, the few weak stations I heard today were only there briefly. Apparently, propagation got much better immediately after the XYL dragged me off to do errands in town. Sigh.

Only thing I've heard on 10 lately was some coal truck drivers. 28315 AM, and by their conversation I could tell they were on US23 near my home. I put out my call phonetically, and it really stumped them LOL. "I heard some uniform delta $#%@. What was that?" HA! I wish some of the local ops would start using 10m and get these clowns off there.

I scrolled across 11 today. Yes, I was curious.

27.515 had someone with a caribbean accent (I think it's barbados) DXing. He was weakish, barely registering on my S meter.

The band was somewhat open, but not wide open.

10 was dead as a door nail though.

So what gives? I know it's a sunspot minimum and all, but why not at least give 10 a try?

Well, 10 is open here right now. I've heard some 6 calls, there was a 10-10 net going on. Tried calling CQ for a while, no answer. Listening for someone else calling CQ to see if they could hear me.
Probably about the time I make contact with somebody, the bottom will drop out. That's how 10 works...

Could be a good day to go for a drive on US23! http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif The only way to be SURE to get 'em off, is to turn their butts in to Riley by direction intervention. It's the way *most* of them have been nailed. When it happens, I believe Riley "advises" them to get the "export" radios OUT of the trucks.

WOW... with half a million miles, I've never had another driver say, "hey, jump up to 28.035..."

The paper mill guys are on a cb channel.
Truck drivers use cb channels. mainly 19 27.185 am. There is no point to being on the 10 meter band. They do not operate on cw portions of 10 meters. We are too busy trying to find out where the next DOT officer is that is going to try to screw us out of a weeks salary-- like the crooks in AL. I guesss people in AL can't make enough money to fund the state, so they look at commercial vehicles for revenue.

But then again, you know how us stupid truck drivers are...

stop throwing truck drivers in with these welfare receiving, incest committing, goat raping idiots on freeband base stations.

Chris
