You might be a liberal if you think:
We spend more on defense than we do on health care and other human services.
Our health care system is worse than other developed countries because the free market has failed and our government doesn't spend enough on health.
The rich pay less in taxes than the poor.
The U.S. is one of the worst offenders in producing global warming gases, and keeps on polluting while other countries are cutting back.
The biggest problem with Islamic terrorism is the resulting backlash against Muslims.
AIDS affects everyone equally, gay and straight.
We have high rates of rapes and sexual assault because of the availability of guns.
There was no good reason to invade Iraq in 2003, certainly not the threat of WMD.
More lives would be saved by making helmets mandatory for motorcycle riders than would be saved by making them mandatory for pedestrians or car drivers and passengers.
President Bush is stupid.

Quote[/b] ]10. George W. Bush's SAT score of 1206 has been widely reported. The SAT score (if taken prior to 1995) can be used to estimate IQ, to compare to the general population, and to compare to occupational averages and popular figures in history. Using such estimates, President Bush's IQ is between 125 and 130 which ranks him as more intelligent than over 95% of the population, more intelligent than most college professors and medical doctors, and similar to Abraham Lincoln, Rousseau and Thackeray (comparative IQs of 128).
Uh this is great except for the fact that he's proven himself time and time again to be an absolute imbecile.

Actually I don't think this test is accurate at all. I know plenty of liberals (or persons who would be perceived as liberals) who would disagree with most of those notions. As a matter of fact I only agree with about 2 of them.
Quote[/b] ]
The U.S. is one of the worst offenders in producing global warming gases, and keeps on polluting while other countries are cutting back.
Disagree. The US refused to asknowledge GW for the longest time and refused Kyoto. While we are one of the kingpin producers of GW gas other countries are not nessesarilly cutting back.
Quote[/b] ]
The biggest problem with Islamic terrorism is the resulting backlash against Muslims.
Disagree. It's a problem but not the biggest.
Quote[/b] ]
AIDS affects everyone equally, gay and straight.
Disagree. It's also a vaguely worded question. What exactly do they mean ? AIDS can affect anyone of the human species but it is far more prevailent among certain groups, IV drug users, gay, etc.
Quote[/b] ]
We have high rates of rapes and sexual assault because of the availability of guns.
Disagree. I don;t feel that guns in and of themselves contribute to rape or assault. Howevere note that AT discusses only 1 year stats of 2004.
Quote[/b] ]
There was no good reason to invade Iraq in 2003, certainly not the threat of WMD.
Agree - and the crud written on American Thinker to justify the attack has been debunked
Quote[/b] ]
More lives would be saved by making helmets mandatory for motorcycle riders than would be saved by making them mandatory for pedestrians or car drivers and passengers.
Disagree. Depends on who's lives we are talking about. Just MC riders or the lives of MC riders, car drivers and pedestrians ?
Quote[/b] ]
President Bush is stupid.
Disagree. he's probably smarter than he makes out to be.
So I guess according to the American Thinker I am a devout conservative ? I don't think so. Then again I would be quite skeptical of anything I read on the American Thinker blog, including some of the answers they provide. These people are infamous for skewing data and obfuscating reality.

All are "loaded" questions. Reminds me of the "surveys" our representatives in congress (from both parties) periodically send to their constituents, worded so as to direct responses in the direction of supporting the politician's agenda.
Quote[/b] ]2. In 2001, public spending per capita on health in the United Kingdom, Canada and France was $1,518, $1,531 and $1,599, respectively. How much was public spending per capita on health in the United States?
(a) $168
(b) $682
© $1,286
(d) $2,168
Despite the U.S. health care system often being described as a "free market", the U.S. spends more in public dollars per capita than almost all other countries, including Canada and the U.K. In fact, only Norway spends more (Table 1318). Note that these are public dollars, meaning government spending. Total public and private spending on health care in the U.S. is about double that, or about 16% of GDP.
That's one of the weaknesses often cited by advocates of the Canadian-style single payer system. Despite the fact that we spend about 50% more public (government) funds on medical care in the US than do other industrialised countries, about 15% of the population still has no medical coverage at all. Moreover, the total per capita expenditure (public and private) on medical care in the US is about double that of other industrialised countries. And despite all this $pending, and regardless of what "health plan" most of us have, nearly every American remains just one major illness or serious injury away from bankruptcy.
I just heard a report on the radio today that medical care is increasingly being "outsourced" to countries like India and Thailand, because the cost is a fraction of what it is here, but the quality is comparable. Even Blue Cross is beginning to accept the notion of providing coverage for outsourced care. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=7615619
For some interesting perspectives on the public vs private medical coverage issue, read the first half of the following article. Skip the rest if you wish, and scroll down and check out the comments by readers.

Lets look at the equation defining IQ for 1 moment.
IQ = 100 MA/CA
where MA = Mental Age and CA = Chronological age.
So they are saying that Dubya has an IQ of 130, therefore he has the brain of a 78 year old. Is that actually a good thing?
Let's compare to a brief list of chronological highlights of Lincoln:
* 1816: Lincoln’s family lost their home and he had to quit school to support them.
* 1818: His mother passed away.
* 1831: He failed in business.
* 1832: He ran for state legislature and lost, also lost his job, and while he wanted to go to law school he couldn’t get in.
* 1833: He borrowed money to start a new business and was bankrupt by the end of the year. He spent the next 17 years paying off the debt.
* 1834: He ran for state legislature again and this time he won.
* 1835: He was engaged to be married and his fiance died.
* 1836: Mr. Lincoln suffered a total nervous breakdown and spent six months in bed.
* 1838: He sought to become speaker of the state legislature and was again defeated.
* 1840: He sought to become elector and was defeated.
* 1843: Lincoln ran for Congress and lost.
* 1846: He ran for Congress again and this time he won.
* 1848: Lincoln lost his re-election race for Congress.
* 1849: He sought the position of land officer in his home state and was turned down.
* 1854: Lincoln ran for the US Senate and lost.
* 1856: He sought the Vice-Presidential nomination and lost receiving less than 100 votes.
* 1858: He ran yet again for the US Senate and lost.
* 1860: Abraham Lincoln was elected President of the United States.
This last event set the nation on course for a war where the US was guaranteed to lose.
The whole story of Lincoln is to be inspiring to those needing encouragement in knowing that if ANYONE tries hard enough, and long enough, they will succeed. It is not inspiring to know that someone who is most bright, witty and intelligent has such a habitual problem with failure and suffered massive debilitating mental distresses. So was Lincoln of an extremely high intelligence quotient?
As for taking the test, I fail the liberal test miserably. I must be a flaming neo-con.

Sorry to say but screw ups in the health care system ensured even straight folks can get aids -- all it takes is a visit to the doctor and a transfusion with a bottle of tainted blood.

The formula presented here (http://www.gnxp.com/MT2/archives/002360.html) from a paper discussed here (http://www.gnxp.com/MT2/archives/001837.html) suggests that the presented results are a bit of a stretch.
Using the above formula we obtain
1206*.126 - (0.0000471*(1206*1206))+40.063 = 123.5150644
Or about 124.
The following more complete picture along with additional estimates and an observation of Al Gore's MUCH higher IQ can be found here (http://www.geocities.com/rnseitz/Definition_of_IQ.html).
Quote[/b] ]
What kind of IQ does Bush's 1206 SAT imply?
Linda Gottfredson, co-director of the University of Delaware-Johns Hopkins Project for the Study of Intelligence and Society, told me:
"I recently converted Bush's SAT score to an IQ using the high school norms available for his age cohort. Educational Testing Service happened to have done a study of representative high school students within a year or so of when he took the test. I derived an IQ of 125, which is the 95th percentile."
In other words, only one out of 20 people would score higher.
Charles Murray came up with a similar result:
"I think you're safe in saying that Dubya's IQ, based on his SAT score, is in excess of 120, which puts him in the top 10 percent of the distribution, but I wouldn't try to be more precise than that."
This suggests that applicants to the Air Force Academy averaged about 122.5 (halfway between one and two standard deviations above the average), putting Bush in the 125-130 range -- a little better than his SAT score would suggest.
By way of comparison, Bush's 2000 opponent Al Gore scored 134 and 133 the two times he took an IQ test in high school, putting him just under the top 1 percent of the public.
Not surprisingly, the former vice president's' SAT scores were also strong but not stratospheric: Verbal 625, Math 730, for a total of 1355, which would equate to the upper 130s in IQ.

I don't listen to Air America but I do know enough about them to know that most of their shows are call-in shows. Since they are stupid they must be extremely ill-informed. Armed with even a little bit of information I would imagine it would be a simple matter to call in and put them to shame. Once again, I am mis-characterized. This oblivious generalization proves once again, the right is truly maligned. They're just not as intelligent as we give them credit for.
Therefore, 'stupid' is obviously giving them way too much credit. A brain is a terrible thing to lose. Of course, that implies that one has a brain to lose.

The US, together with Russia and China are the worst offenders in producing pollutants, but whether this is warming up the earth has not been proved. The earth warmed up during the 17th century and there were not many using cars, no power stations, heating boilers or cows giving off methane ! #Check out Samuel Johnson's diaries, its in there.
There is no backlash in Britain against moslems, but they still want Sharia law, fat chance ! #And believe me when I say that you don't have 2,000 "sleeper" #Islamic home grown terrorists living off the state in the US, we do !
AID's doesn't affect everyone, I remember reading 15 years ago when the doomsters said everybody in Harlem would die from AIDS in 5 years. Some poor souls got HIV from blood used in hospital blood transfusions. Dirty habits cause AIDs and HIV
There wasn't a good reason to invade Iraq. It was done because Saddam had been givving the UN two fingers for 13 years so Bush said, Lets whack him with our B52's.
Motorcylists and their pillion passengers would be prevented from serious head injuries if they wore helmets. It stopped bad brain splattering in Britain, and this also applies to horse riders.
