I have used the board since the switch to the new server with no problems, but a few moments ago I tried clicking the "New Posts" button and got the "You're not allowed to use" error page.
I show logged in. Help?
thanks,
Marty

Well at least I'm not alone, same here.
And I can't use the search feature without
getting the "not allowed" response either.

Still don't see the problem, as Fred has already discussed the Search feature...

Thanks everyone, for your kind comments. To answer a few of the questions thus far:
1. Yes, the new machine has dual power supplies :-)
2. The Search feature has been temporarily disabled for most accounts. The reason is that the new server is so much faster that it's swamping the back end database machine with requests. The article search requests in particular are compute intensive and tend to load up the database server quite a bit.
To fix the search problem, I've today ordered a replacement server, an x4200 Sun and will be retiring the E280R which has been running non-stop (without reboot) for the past 506 days. The new x4200 is several times faster and features two dual-core Opteron processors (model 275). In addition, I'm contemplating removing articles thar are more than two years old. Right now we have articles still in the database that are 5 years old. This would speed up things as well.
That's all for now. I'm still working frantically on all this to make sure things are done right.

I'm sure "Frantically" does quite desribe your efforts!
By the way, is your head getting sore yet from beating it on your desk while screaming THE #$$%^@$ THING SHOULD WORK???
