View Full Version : Watch out for KG4PNE

Just a warning to anyone planning to deal with KG4PNE. We made a swap over three weeks ago; he received my item within 2 days. I'm still waiting for mine. And now I see he has it up for sale again!!

---snip--- << due to overwhelming interest (curiosity??), I've posted our email thread below>>. It's actually kinda funny (he blames his wife for taking the money to ship my antenna and buying clothes instead!!). I guess it would be funny if it wasn't me that got screwed.

Sorry, if this is not actually an "item for sale" but I think you should all know who you're dealing with.

Feb 5 update:
First of all, I would like to thank everyone who wrote for their kind words and for sharing their own "deals gone bad." I was overwhelmed by the response (especially since the qrz moderators pulled my post almost immediately from the For Sale forum where it could have done some good). While I understand and respect their decision, it is too bad; I was just trying to save someone else the same grief. I was also very disheartened. It is truly quite sad when we cannot trust fellow hams – especially, as in my case, one in the military. Whatever happened to honor?

Assuming the HF6 is in good condition, all pieces/hardware/manual included, etc., I think we have a deal…to keep things simple, how 'bout I just throw in a 10 dollar bill with the HW-3 and we pay our own shipping/insurance (remember the HW-3 is still unused in its original shipping tube - I'm sure you will be pleased!). If that's OK, send your address and we can cross ship ASAP.

James,

Are you still there? Haven't heard from you or seen the ant. Hope I didn't make a mistake in trusting you. I also see that you put the HW-3 immed up for sale. Sorry, I thought that you wanted it for yourself. However, I did have another party who was VERY interested in the HW-3 so if you still have, I'd like to pass your name along to him. However, I really need to hear from you (and get the UPS tracking #) before I do so. Thanks.

James,

Well it's been a couple of weeks and no antenna and no response to my
emails. So I figure either:
#1. You're dead.
#2. Your computer is dead.
#3. You're just a deadbeat.
If it's 1 or 2, then I guess you'll never see this.
Otherwise, I'll assume it's #3. In that case, I guess all I can do is post a bunch of warning messages on all the ham sites to warn others of your dishonesty. I won't lose any sleep over a lousy antenna, but I'm sure you'll rot in hell! You're even giving the military a bad name. What was SPC - #stealing, pirate, cheat?

Get it out TOMORROW, preferably 2 or 3 day delivery, and SEND ME THE TRACKING NUMBER.

How can you say that? I told you what I would do and then did exactly that.

For your information, being in the military was one of the reasons I decided to trust you. I have great respect for our men in uniform. I would tell you my own history, but that would just take too long.

>> #i will just mail you yours back

Well if you want to reimburse me for MY shipping and the lost sale to another interested party....

>> #post the same slander about you as you where going to about me

I'm not sure what "slander" you are talking about; you are certainly welcome to post anything about our transaction as long as it is true. I was merely going to post my experience, including exact quotes from your emails so anyone could see what you said you'd do and then what excuses you gave. Do you really think anyone would fault me for being upset?

>> #if you can not wait till the first

OK. the first is Friday. If I hear from you on Friday that the HF6 has shipped (with a tracking no), then I will consider this matter closed (assuming, that is, that I actually receive it in the condition as described). I think that is more than fair.

On Monday, 2/4, I finally received confirmation that he did send a package via UPS. I'm glad the entire e-mail thread was published.

I don't buy or trade anything facilitated by the internet, unless it's from or with a known and incorporated entity, such as an established manufacturer or dealer, using a credit card transaction and secure site. This post helps me remember why. Thanks.

You know I just talked to a friend who is in the USAF - he said that active duty military does have no nonsense laws that can take care of someone like that. You might just call his CO up on the phone and explain what has been going on.

Well, in all fairness, I decided to report that I have received my antenna back from it's monthlong vacation in sunny GA. It seems no worse for the wear (although the nice shipping tube is toast).

No note, no apology, and not even the $10 bill I sent to KG4PNE as part of our deal. Silly me, I was hoping he might even feel guilty enough to reimburse me for my shipping. Guess not.

So, all in all, I'm just out $15 or so and a month of aggrevation. Not as bad as some of the other horror stories I've been hearing.

Cheers to all who read and commented on this thread,

Jeff,

What a nightmare !

Really sorry to hear about your situation but glad at least, you got your itme back. Guy sounds like a real loser. And he's &quot;defending&quot; my country ? What a wonderful thought indeed.

Once again, it helps if you have a problem fulfilling your end of a business transaction to be honest, upfront and sincere instead of this losers approach (lie, lie some more and lie on top of another lie).

Glad you posted the entire sequence of events. Sure proves that many scammed individuals out there are not just whining about a &quot;slow&quot; delivery.

Glad your story had a &quot;happy&quot; ending !!!

Judging from the many, many spelling errors and made-up words (misconfusion???), I can't believe this guy is a ham! Can't believe he's in the Army and can't even write a proper letter, let alone keep his word in a business deal. Glad you got your stuff back at least.

Sounds like this guy was running a scam, which is typical amongst the few hoodlums that manage to get into the military.

Jeff,
# # I am sure the $15 loss isn't going to kill you however the frustration factor is a major problem. There are several ways to handle this. Even if satisfaction isn't your motive, you can at least prevent a similar incident in the future.
# # A simple communication to the District Attorney in his area will certainly get some attention. This in turn WILL filter down thru channels to his CO and life will cease to exist as he knows it.
# # Besides getting your money back, you can rest assured that the military does not need nor want any bad press and will act accordingly. Maybe a year or two of extra duty?
# # After facing military dicipline, and possible criminal and/or civil charges he should reconsider his options next time he is tempted to screw somebody.
# # Please, for the rest of us who enjoy the hobby, don't just let this go. If you do it is likely another of us will get taken as you did. It is disgusting that a fellow HAM and (temporary) member of our armed forces could act this way. This needs to be corrected.

Just would like to set the record straight.
A: the ant i got was opened and used. but it is ok.
B: after you have served in my shoes here on FT Stewart then you can boggle how my daily events go.
C: you can ask any other ham i have dont dealings with and they have nothing but good reports.
So in conclusion If the tube was opened when he got it how does he not know if the $10 did not fall out or was not taken. And I can not say what he thinks. But for all those who would like to take a whack at me. Just email me. You dont have to post it here. Say it to me. you want to live a life in my shoes for a day. Come on down. The army is not what you think it is. And reports to it don't always get what you want done. He only caused headaches for Himself if he did. you can ask K1WEY, N4GOD, KA4IDJ and many others i have had busness with in the last year.

This clown claims that he has it really tough and we could not live in his shoes for a day! Having served myself from 1966-1972, I would just like to have this whiner underneath my command under the older rules for a couple of months. If you don’t like the service, quit whining about it and get out. It is all volunteer and that’s more of an option that most of us had back when. I was drafted, but I did not whine about it.

He also claims that he is honest and above board with all he deals with. I beg to differ. A friend of mine about panicked when he sent money for a transceiver and then all communication with guy dropped out. The money order was cashed but he did not answer emails for some time. He was a great little communicator until he got the money.

He excuse was that his girlfriend had the radio in the trunk of the car for a period of over a week and forgot to send it, as agreed when the money order he required arrived. He also made the excuse that he was being “deployed”. Must have had to make a trip to the PX to spend the money I guess. He said we did not understand

I threatened to take the matter on myself and contacted members of his club and told them I knew the way to handle this via the Army if the need came up. They in turn contacted him and he magically found the radio in his girl friend’s trunk and it finally got to the intended destination.

I only wish he had been closer so I could have a little chat with him about responsibilities and life. I don’t think he’s a thief. But he’s not reliable.

Also, this clown has apparently never heard of Article 15 UCMJ regarding &quot;conduct unbecoming&quot; and nexus to the military. If someone was to mail his public posts about whining about Fort Stewart and the Army being so tough his commanding officer may make life easier for him, as a civilian.

Jeff,

Have to admit, your threads really provide the &quot;whole&quot; story and not just accusations and miscommunication.

This jerk is a loser. #Blames everything on the fact he is in the military. #And, as one poster stated, he doesn't do business with anyone unless they have WXXX calls, remember the vanity program? #That won't hold water either.

This clown is an out and out liar.

He stated he shipped, but didn't.
Stated it's on the way, but oh, forgot the tracking number (which is one the receipt)

etc.

Then claims to be a person of &quot;honor&quot; and his &quot;ham&quot; friends can attest to his &quot;integrity&quot;, etc. #Give me a break. #He got busted, pure and simple. It's one thing to sell something, but it's another to follow through when buying. One takes in money, the other requires you to pay for something.

If his &quot;wife&quot; (if he really has one) used the money for clothes, then he ought to rethink his spending policy if money is that tight.

At least you got your antenna back. #

Thanks for the warning on this loser!

1.Integrity First
2. Service Before Self
3. Excelence in all we do

Bottom line, the jerk is a loser.

&quot; If I served in his boots&quot;...must be really tough being stateside, in a noncombant role...

What the hell does that have to do with honesty and integrity ?
His &quot;daily&quot; events ? Well, seems you have plenty of time to surf....

If you are that upset about $10 then i will mail it to you. Dont get me confused with alot of other hams. There is hams out there who never return people equipment. So don't try to judge me on them. I did mail you back the Ant. and if you want i can mail you back your $10 But what you and many other are doing is not right. there is now 3 hams that always are improving there shack. and yet when they start getting all the good equipment and start swaping and selling it to make the dream shack they want another ham has to try to post something to try to make other not want to trade. No i am not saying i was right for delay of mailing back you ant. ok i will bite the bullet on that. But i did mail it back. And before and after our transaction i had many other hams swap and sell to me. and they all went smooth as water. So how can you mak one thing sound lik i am some kind of hoolagain. That is all i wanted to say. You can take it for what it is worth. But i just want you to know and you can post this as a spool on the posting. i do not care. but hams like you and the many others who dont even know me or you. just wanting to get there 2 cents in. Have made a couple other hams get out of the hobby. And hey if that is what you want then by all means. do it. But i on the other hand am not going anywhere. I will be getting my genral soon and then i will be on the HF bands . i used to do it all the time with my dad and now i will do it on my own. but i unlike others who think if you dont have HF priv. you are not worth talking to will still help my fellow tech hams. and new hams. i think youth and old should take part in the hobby. but this will never happen till the old can get past there i am better then you crap just cause the FCC changed the rules to make it more inviting to some more comen folks.
73's
And i hope this will bring some light into your thoughts. Think about it next time you want to post something. you got your stuff back and you are fussing over $10. but hey if your are that type of person by all means go right ahead.

Lets keep in mind you do not know me or Jeff. and none of your traded with me or him before so you can not have any ground to stand on and make comments. I always trade i ship first and many many hams have always gotten there gear and money. i many satisfied ham friends. sorry that you can not be one of them if you posted something about me or wey or chad. it is a shame that men in there late 40-50s can only moan and complain on here. and try to scare all the new people from ham radio. that is why the teens are looseing intrest they know you dont want them around and that is fine. Cause someday they will be you and you will have passed on to what ever it is your belive in. i only wish the best to you all and may god bless.

KG4PNE sent me this rambling email about my posting yesterday, can anyone decipher it?:

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">Ok what do you think that would prove i already took care of jeff. Mailed him back his ant. His 10 was not in it. ok that is my mistake you want me sued or something over 10 if it is that big of a deal then i will mail him back his 10. Geesh. i never knew someone would make a issue over 10. All you people can do is post nonscense about me and Wey. but yet when i reposted all there strings none could post nothing else about him. Same with me. Jeff is the only ham i had an issue arise. My job is more important. He got back his ant. and there was no harm to it. in fact he resold it like a week later for almost double the price he first started with. so i am sure he made his money. noone is perfect by far. I am sure you one time in your life forgot to do something. but did people make a issue about it no. I can understand if i never sent back his equipment but i did so just drop it.

I still think his command should know about his antics. The UCMJ might beable to prohibit him from on-line sales transactions while he is serving. What a sissy this guy is. I was at Stewart from 91 to 92, when 2/3rds of the post was freshly back from combat and 8 months in the desert. KG4PNE is a pansy for blaming your sworn duty on your inabillity to keep your commitments.

WOW!!

I didn't realize that this thread was still going. The incident took place back in February - and I had considered it closed - but I guess KG4PNE started it back up a couple of months ago. I would not even had known of the more recent posts if not for his latest email to me (which he graciously has already posted). And kudos to QRZ.com for the new &quot;Ham to Ham References&quot; board.

I'm glad he has tried to &quot;set the record straight,&quot; although he is once again lying when he claims that the antenna was &quot;used.&quot; I could not make ANY sense out of the rest of it, so I'm not sure how he justified his actions. At least he finally admits that he never returned the $10 bill with the antenna.

As you can see from his latest diatribe (or should I call it a &quot;dia-tripe&quot; - hey, HE makes up words!), he still doesn't have a clue. As KF4KWO points out, he cannot even form a simple sentence and apparently the concept of cut-and-paste is a little beyond his cranial capacity as well. Oh well, it would be funny if it weren't so sad.

James, this has nothing to do with age or how long you've been a ham. It's just plain honesty and decency, which you could learn a lot about. I never expected to hear from you again so I guess it's still possible that one day I'll get the $15 you owe me. If so, I'll be happy to tell everyone here.

READ THEIR COMMENTS AGAIN.
Do you really believe that you were right and everybody here is wrong?? Never mind, I know the answer already.

Contact this guys Commanding Officer immediately. I am a retired Chief and believe me, they would want to know about this person. I cannot believe he is a representative of our military. He needs serious help.
Good Luck.

Guys, relax, its only a hobby. Very interesting and imformative thread. Another LID exposed.

BTW, his beef is with James. Is there a need for the rest of us to get involved? What he did is bad, but as for the rest of us....move along we are holding up traffic.

Just because he is a &quot;flake&quot; in trading toys does not make him a bad soldier. We all have our own character flaws and it does not mean that we failed in everything we do. You are now dealing with his lively hood (which involved his whole family). Leave the Army out of this.

I agree to leave the military out of this. Just because a person did you wrong on a deal does not give you the right to ruin his and his families life. If this guy wasnt in the military this would have been a dead thread a long time ago.

Normally I am all for accountability and settling the score by any means available, but sometimes... just sometimes its better to take the lump than to press the issue.

Dan, I agree. All this over a piece of radio gear.
Maybe we should break the guy down to private and have the #guy shot at sunrise.
Or perhaps have his family impounded in a camp until this guy gets his revenge.
If this guy has a beef, make a complaint. If nothing happens leave it be.
Plastering #rants, threats and attempting to ruin someone over a hobby is getting out of hand.
I think this board is a bad idea.
Brings out every squirrel with a broken nut to rant about.

We have wars all over the world, terrorists in our own country, people starving, and some in this country trying to figure out how to keep warm this winter and what they are going to feed their kids from one day to the next and hams whining about &quot;my radio is broken&quot;..or &quot; My antenna is gone&quot;.well tough...get a life.

Thats my rant....

I'm just curius how this guy could read well enough to get his ticket. Maybe they've opened a &quot;Special Ed&quot; program in the Army, or perhaps he had to join it to get his citizenship. I'll probably never know the answer; even if KG4PNE sees this reply, he probably can't read it.

To Everyone Else; When selling and trading, always make sure the person can actually read and write. Chances are, if they can't read and write, the don't know what they're getting. You're always better off dealing with someone that can communicate, isn't that what Ham Radio is all about?
