I am going to begin my construction of an HFpack antenna for use at my dads, or other locations that dont permit me to bring and put up antennas
Linker (http://www.dxzone.com/cgi-bin/dir/jump2.cgi?ID=11895)
Thats the antenna I intend to build.
We will just have to see how it goes eh?
My thought was that I could even attach and SO-239 to it so I could place the whip outside on a tripod and use the box as a small tuner?
we will just have to see!
Cool!
What I am thinking of doing is building a telescoping vertical that I can pack up and since it requires no trees to hold it up, I think it is possible.
It would have sections that I just insert then tighten with hose clamps for 1/4 wavelength at
144 mHz
50 mHz
28 mHz
21 mHz
14 mHz
I would like to be able to operate this antenna without a tuner so it would make a pack lighter. It would take roll-up radials. There it is, that's what I plan to do over spring break.

I won a pacific antenna (http://www.pacificantenna.com/) at a hamfest last year. I haven't talked on it yet, but it receives good.

you guys might want to check out the buddipole. link! (http://www.qsl.net/w3ff) though I think the commercial version costs too much
I'm thinking I need to get me a better antenna to replace me indoor set of slinkies. I think part of it could be because I'm not using a balun but it doesn't seem to be capable of tuning anything very well except for the 40m band. I need a daytime band...like 20 or something I operate during the day more than I do at night...

Condx are pretty bad here. Only 74 QSOs so far in ARRL DX, 42 on 80m, 31 on 40m and one on 160m. MUF went very low during the night, only worked eastern states on 40m. Hope 20m will be less disappoing later today.

I doubt so. Haven't heard anything beyond W9, with normal condx I can usually work the big guns from W6/7 and also VE5/6, but condx are really poor tonight. Just 100W and a Dipole here, so if you hear the EU big guns, take some 30dB and that's my signal :-)
