If anyone needs VE8 I have a nice Arctic themed QSL and can do 20 meter SSB.

Who ever said KL7s were rare? (I'm pretty well done, myself)

Hey Garth,
I would like to get one of those QSL cards. #Let's figure out a time to see if we can make it happen. #I will be on 14.260 or somewhere close at 18:00 central time (00:00 UTC 02/09) today trying to make contact with a station in Mississippi.
See if you can hear us and give us a shout!

Yeah, really. KL7s aren't rare at all. I've got them on 6m, 10m, and 20m.
What's the big deal? http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
Hi Garth,
Have been trying to get my wife to move up to Yellowknife for a year when we retire, but no luck so far. #She thinks NB was cold enough in the winter. #Now live in Tennessee having moved from Nova Scotia back in 95. #I would like to experience at least one year of “isolation” and the northern lights. #Have some friends my wife graduated with living out west in Whitehorse, they said they have had a real cold winter with temps around 50C.
What is propagation like so far north, do you experience a lot of radio “blackouts”? #
Well I know this is a sked forum so better get back on topic. #Look forward to working you sometime soon.
Best Regards
Bryn

I was semi tongue in cheek when I said "rarer then KL7". But seriously, KL7 must be considered somewhat rare even on HF. Stations in the lower 48 will walk over us to get KL7 for the coveted WAS.

I tend to agree... I've been trying to get Alaska for over 18 years now, and today, FINALLY, during the 17 meter OMISS net KL7IDA happen to be on there and with a few tries was finally able to work him.
I'd love to have VE8 too http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

29 QSOs with KL (0.05% of my QSO total), 0 QSOs with VE8 in my log. It's certainly rarer than KL7, but the RAC failed to make a Canadian WAS-like award popular enough so everyone wants to work VE8 :-)
Please don't forget, not only stateside hams read this forum. Any of us can be rare to any one ham at anyone place in the world at one time or another. I have been to the Yukon and believe you me, it is a beautiful and rare place indeed. Graduate Univ of Alaska 1969. I have your province, thank you, do you have a CW FISTS or SKCC #? I could use VE8 too. I THINK that is the only province I have never heard/worked.
Not sure about the only one missing, I would have to check my log.

Hello Garth. If you are still tracking this thread I would love to rag chew with you about hunting sometime. If you look at my profile you will see we share some interests. Also the qsl card sounds really cool http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif . I can usually be on 20 meters by around 00:00-00:30 UCT. I use side band and CW. Hope to run into you, let me know if you would like to sked.
