View Full Version : Proposed ban on iPods at crosswalks
Must be something in the water back east.
Proposed ban on iPods (http://wcbstv.com/topstories/local_story_037234835.html)
The politicians must save us from ourselves. To think that mankind would not survive if it were not for laws like this.

This was already posted under "More Government Control". It's just another idiot politician looking for more ways to annoy people by playing nanny. They are going to protect us in spite of ourselves. And with a $100.00 fine to boot. And how are the cops going to tell if you crossed the street with an ipod ? How is the determination going to work ? Does one have to remove the headphones from ones ears ? Of does just the ipod have to be turned off ? How will the cops determine of it was turned on or off at the time of the street crossing ? Will wearing any kind of earphone thus be made illegal ? Will cops have to search and frisk people for ipods. This law also applied to ALL electronic devices, cell phones, cameras, blackberry's, audio players, walkmans, portable cd players.
Don't the cops have enough to do without having to watch for people with ipods at crosswalks. Hopefully some sense will prevail and this stupid law will not pass.

If safety is the concern, lets just ban cars.

Don't forget HTs used with headsets. #Most cops wouldn't know the difference between Icom and Ipod. #Not that they could be expected to know...which one of the many reasons why this is a stupid idea.

I agree, but common sense and politics seldom coexist. #If any proof of that is needed, consult tomorrow morning's newspaper.

How about banning white canes and service dogs? Oh yeah, those rascalley deaf folks have gotta go too! http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif
I would like a law that doesn't automatically put drivers at fault when they hit a jaywalking pedestrian.
Awright. Now I gotta get serious about relocating the QTH. This is getting rediculous.

The funniest part is the senator who proposed this is a Democrat from Brooklyn. Go figure that one out. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif
