Does anyone have information on the kirusu Pt2508. It appears to be a commercial band hand held radio. Can it be modified for 2 meters. Need information where to get programming software and cables.

Hi!

You can find programming software for this radio at:

http://www.kirisun.com/download//ksp05/ksp05plus.zip

Unzip and run to install.

I don't have one of those particular radios but I do have several other Kirisun models. They all seem to use the same programming cable, which is the one I use to program a Kenwood TK378 handheld.

As far as whether or not it can be modified for 2m use, that depends on which model it is. The VHF models come in 2 ranges: 136-150MHz and 150-174MHz. I have successfully programmed and used a PT2208S 150-174MHz model for 2m amateur use and it works fine. The only oddity I've noticed is that the software complains slightly (red text) when entering the out-of-band frequencies but otherwise takes no action. The radio didn't complain.
