You new IC-7000 owners have probably noticed that you can't get full SSB HF output without the compressor on?
As well, notice the FM audio is just plain low...?
This problem drove me nuts until I engineered a fix for it. It took a while, but I've got it done. Now, 70% mic gain gives full HF SSB output with no compressor, and the FM deviation is just right. The SSB audio is also cleaner- without that excessive bass.
The problem is in the mic. When I fixed mine, my friends locally said "why don't you offer to upgrade other folks mikes?" It didn't even cross my mind until then.
