View Full Version : Mods VX7r   (mars/cap free band mod)

I try to mod my vx7r, took out the battery and the sticker cover seal. Then I locate the row of 8 jumper, then I remove solder #4 and #5. Then reset the micro processor/After resetting on the radio, it did'nt work,,,,Pls. tell me whtat I did wrong..

The later units need only the #4 blob removed.

What you did wroing is try and modify a radio that needs no modification for any legal use.

I am told that there is a software mod for the vx-7r, do a google search for " Vx-7R software", try it you have nothing to loose and everything to gain

Yup, I did mine on the first try and it works like a charm. 40mhz to something like 500+. Check external sites for further detail. Heck, I'm sure you already know since you've tried to desolder. #4 pin is the one to do. Take that away and you've got freeband. Careful transmitting on 3m http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif Bad news bears. Big bad wolf, FCC, might get mad.
