View Full Version : What's wrong with this picture?
Reading the DX news regarding KM9D on Fanning Island, I looked him up on this site, and upon seeing the photo, wondered if my eyesight is becoming worse. #
How many things can you find wrong with this picture?

Someone is fairly good with Paint Shop or one of those other programs. If not called to attention that there was something odd about it I probably would not have noticed the man walking on air. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif
Definitely a good catch.

It almost looks like his left foot is on something, but I can't be sure.

Hey, it could've been worse... he could have pasted his image into a shot of the LEM sitting on the moon, with him making his way down the steps to the lunar surface (still dressed only in his jogging outfit). #"One small step for man... one giant leap for PhotoShop."

His left foot is probably on the mast step, a fairly large hunk of metal that keeps the mast from going through the salon, if it is not a keel stepped mast.
Some cruisers also have steps up the mast if they cruise in shallow waters alot. This puts the next step on the port side which you can just barely make out the shadow just below his waist. The next step would be just above his waist on the starboard side hidden by his torso. When on the water, sometimes height is everything.
The photo looks like he found a good place to stand given a steady and predictable wind.

The sheep shank in a steel stay seems a bit suspicious, too. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
I guess this is where the expression, "Slicker than a booger on a bowsprit" comes from. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
