I could have sworn that the President was going to talk about the code being dropped.

Seems like such a hot topic these days.

I was surprised though that they brought that subway hero guy.

But I really wish they'd mention something about ham radio. After all, the President did recently give the amateur radio service a nice letter of commendation.

http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif I did notice that the seats had extra springs in them to keep the folks standing up applauding.

Even the V P stood up a time or two, unarmed of course...guess the secret service made him leave the ak 47 at the door...but he did keep staring at the presidents backside ( of course it was right in front of him, like he had a choice ).

I didnt see no hecklers being led down the aisles towards the door, or too many " catcalls " from the audience.

I watched or listened to the whole scenerio, and was definately surprised of no commercials for beer, trucks, or real estate.
He didnt studder or get sidetracked.
I wonder if it really was the president or just a cheap actor ??

...and no cheap plug for amateur radio ? If he keeps this up he wont get re-elected ...!!

No I aint voting for Hilliary, either. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif

The president did say that his education goal was to push math and science in our educational system. That's exactly what ham radio did at one time. It required the ham to develop math an science skills.

So why then did the federal government make it easier? That just doesn't fit with what was said.

For me the subway guy was the hit of the party. All us should posses his attitude. Stay the course Bush but start building fences and supplying ammunition at the fence with some of that gasoline tax. Take the free loaders off the tax payers back. That may also help pay for some fencing and needed enforcement. Let's get away from all this 'let's be compassionate and just let them come into our country to get a job' bull crap and get some of our fat free loaders out of our pockets so they might wish to work or starve. We don't need foreign citizenship to do our work. Some day the Golden Goose might just die from blood lose.

Who noticed the hate in Hillary's eyes and on her face? I watched Fox and they only panned her once, as I noticed. What a sorry look. Wow this campaign is going to be fun to watch.

Let's see - what was missing? Perhaps, a dose of reality?

When the only tool you have is a hammer, everything is a nail.

We'll solve the health insurance problem by giving the poor, who don't pay any taxes, a tax cut. We'll fund this non-expense by taxing the crud out of the middle class people who have health insurance. This will discourage employers from offering health insurance, which will drive down medical costs. Of course, a lot of middle class people will get ruined in the process, but who cares about the commoners?

I'm surprised he doesn't offer the Iraqis a tax cut if they'll stop fighting among themselves!

I liked his energy proposal as far as it went. I do think that we're approaching some technological advances that will help here. And, anything that encourages the use of corn for ethanol and soybeans for biodiesel greatly enhances the value of our family farm. Just as long as we don't have to start growing sugar cane in Iowa.

Advantages of Mrs. Clinton becoming President:

1. We already know how to say "President Clinton", so that's less work.

2. Bill Clinton becomes First Mate, which gives him control over the choice of White House furnishings and the menus at state dinners.

I saw the State of the Union address on TV. What surprised me is how many of the democrats cheered and applauded the president. Nancy Pelosi was congratulated by the president several times and she shook hands with him at least three times and applauded almost everything he said... although I'm sure she knows that neither she or Bush will live to see the good stuff done, and there is a lot of stuff that was said that was impossible for anybody to do....without negating a lot of other stuff that was proposed.

All of this seemed to be like show biz and I was surprised at how many people were caught by the TV cameras laughing, smiling or applauding. Senator Ted Kennedy was the only one who appeared serious and didn't stand up to applaud. Too bad that his past prevents him from running for president...because he is the only one who now seems consistently against escalating the war in Iraq.

There are some applicants who badly fail ham tests. They can be retested at the same VE session if they pay another fee. I have always discouraged those who fail from taking another test at the same session without any further studying. The few times that I have permitted a second try the applicants failed even worse.

GWB was a failure. During his second term he was still a failure. Most of his proposals are doomed to fail even if the Dems pass them. Yet there is applause for our president. I guess much of it is out of respect for his position and little is out of respect for he, himself.

The occupation of Iraq is a failure for many reasons that there is no space to detail in one post here. Sending in a surge of more troops is more than likely doomed to greater failure. How does GWB expect anyone to agree with sending in more troops rather than leaving now? Yep...It is all patriotic wishful thinking...I'll give Bush a lot of credit for that...but wishing won't make it so. There will still be more insurgents in Iraq...more children left behind...more people who still can't afford medical care...more schools lacking adequate science and math teachers...more doctors getting sued...more hospitals going broke...more prescriptions imported from Canada...more illegal immigrants....more patents developed in Asia...more earmarks getting passed...more tax loopholes for those who don't need them...and more misinformed people ready to again vote for incumbents. I guess there will always be those willing to give failures another chance...because they don't want to recognize the fact that odds are:- failures will repeat as worse failures because very little is being done that can change anything without changing the politicians of both parties who have failed. WE need more changes in our government. It could take some time for the lobbyists to become familiar with newer politicians...I think.

w2ilp (I Like Presidents)...They are at least better than Kings. Please note that unlike an 81 year old guy who said that in killing Saddam Hussein, they killed the wrong man.... I am not inferring that the president of the U.S.A. should feel threatened...so I don't want to be visited by the Secret Service. W shouldn't feel threatened...but in my humble opinion he shouldn't feel encouraged by applause from the mob of buffoons and losers of the past at the State of the Union show.

Willy Gilligan was a better first mate than Slick Willy Clinton could ever be.

(Yes, Gilligan's first name was "Willy")

I could say what I think of Hillary, but there are rules on this forum that would be broken in the process.

Are you talking about Bernhard Goetz?

He isn't a ham, but he dabbles with electronics and is reported to be seen regularly at some of the hamfests in the New England area.

The best post I've enjoyed so far is "she was just chewing her cud". That was about the way I saw it too.

Here is the truth from SF: they don't want to leave until victory. Can you blame them? How would you feel being there and had to recover your buddy in arms and all the sudden be pulled out by some group of pussy whiners that don't have any real sacrifice in the battles All the time though you've seen and drawn blood and you know you sacrificed for the training and depended on us depending on you.

Back in the 80's their was a jet liner shot down by the Soviets. On board was a U.S. Congressman. He perished of course and we did nothing. His wife, bless her, stated afterwards "we are a nation of milk toast".

We instruct men to kill and to defend. That is their job. It is not just for tax payer expended higher education. It is to place himself in harms way for our defense. Any one of us here or elsewhere that believes not defeating and destroying the enemy to their point of submission is ignorant of historical fact so as pertains to past human events; and besides we are not doing this to deflect from some sexual activity by a less than self confident individual holding Presidential office .

I for one am thankful for all the world we have such a man in Presidency with rightful firm conviction. There are things about it all I disagree with. I prefer addressing the enemy as the enemy instead of that other definition deflecting away from what they really are . They are the enemy after all, not just an itch that deserves a more PC name. They, after all, have no good ideals to respect. Also, I wish we not coddle to a religion of hate and human destruction. If my church of belief preached murder (in our country) it would be invaded by the U.S. government, hands down and in little delay (does Waco mean anything? ...and they weren't even preaching anything threatening). My view is rather simple. Destroy the enemy with extreme prejudice and delay not in its destruction. We do certainly belong there. We are a magnet there for the enemy and we are killing them in bunches; good. I can not think of a better place to be doing that The more our forces kill the better for all us. I think our President feels basically the same but politically stands a different public posture.
