I'm a registered Democrat and am confident a New Democrat Presidential candidate, particularly the one discussed above, isn't going to make it. The Democrats are on the road to nowhere masquerading as moderate Republicans.
I see no discussion of this, but the widespread debilitation of American industry and it's workforce is a National Security issue that will prove to be our ultimate undoing. If the Democratic party wasn't ethically and intellectually bankrupt it could step to the plate and formulate an Industrial Policy with widespread appeal. I'm not holding my breath.
The electoral success of candidates Bill Clinton and George W. Bush resided in their ability to appeal to a wide spectrum of the electorate. One has only to witness the awkward, stilted television appearances of Michael Dukakis, George H.W. Bush, Al Gore, John Kerry, and yes, Hillary Clinton, to experience the stiffness, plasticity, duplicity, and insincerity projected by an electorally-challenged candidate.
