"If you had 15 seconds to tell the world whatever you want to, what would you say? Well, now's your chance to be seen and heard on national television, courtesy of CBS Interactive. Post your 15-second video on YouTube, and CBS Interactive will select one to be broadcast on TV! The first selection will air on Sunday, February 4, 2007."
Here's a chance for QRZ Kulture Warriors to reach a National Audience. Be the Next Bill O'Reilly or Keith Olbermann. Better yet, be the Next You.

A few years ago I was on TV in Manhattan for one of those Court TV type shows. My buddy and I were walking from grand central to go to a taping of Ricky Lake show. On the way we walked by the taping of the outdoor audience for the show that former Mayor Koch had. I got to comment on the content of the show and nothing else. Honestly if I had the chance to say anything I'm not sure what I would say.

Surprisingly it appears that many share your dilemma. Not hard. Sit in front of a camera and say what you type here. I'm certain if you're camera shy you could film and get someone who likes to be on camera or wants to be a star to say what you write (much like a TV show).
There are over 600,000 entries already there.

If I were to have a reason to be on TV, I would probably have to say something like,
"No Comment."
or
"I'm evoking my 5th amendment rights."
I believe invoking your Fifth Amendment rights would be more appropriate.

I have nothing to say to the masses.
I'll let someone else make a fool of themselves on national TV.
Besides, being on TV isn't as big a deal as it used to be. #Anyone can start a blog on the internet and irritate people with their opinions every few minutes.
And that can be viewed worldwide, well, for the most part.
And heck, with my DVD camcorder, sufficent bandwidth, and people willing to look at me, I could post video of myself doing ordinary, stupid, or whatever things to the masses.
I don't need CBS for that, just the ability to pay for the bandwidth and enough hosting space to house the videos http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
Trust me-take a look at youtube now, you can see plenty of "hijinks and tomfoolery" already http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

You're right, of course.
evoking involves memory or conjuring of imagery.
I stand corrected.
But, on that thought, given the way rights are being terminated or distorted, my statement may be true in the future.

I've been on TV, twice.
First time... The city [El Monte, CA.] built a new public library [Norwood]. Books had been stored at our elementary school temporarily, a few blocks away. When it was ready to open, they had us - and I mean all of us! - carry as many books as we could comfortably handle from the school to the new library. The caravan of kids made the evening news. Or so I heard from a relative who had seen me on TV...
Second time... Community center talent show, 1982 [?], taped for public access cable. I did a stand-up comedy routine that I had written by myself. I pray to the deity of your choice that there is no longer even one single videotape of that performance in existence. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
I'm not sure I want another shot at even 15 seconds of TV fame.

I don’t think it would take me a whole fifteen seconds of time to say simply and sincerely;
“Send me all your money.”
I would have to have my mailing address on the screen for at least that long so folks would get it right I suppose.

My first time on TV was as a kid in the 50's. We went to Rockerfeller Center and were outside the studio where Dave Garoway (sp?) did the Today Show. One camera was faced outside and we could see ourselves on the monitor. For a kid back in the 50's it was real cool.
My last two times on TV were on Letterman, but I had to say the lines they gave me. (one was a stunt and the other was a top ten)
This is a bit different. This is a Vid you make and if chosen will get network airplay.
Been on a few times. I was once the stock footage they used on ABC and NBC a lot. Oddly I rarely saw it. I was out of town and didn't have a TV.
