And wants the legislature to also give him more power to rule by degree without going through them.

Nationalize is just another word for steal. All that infrastructure was paid for and built by private investors, and now he wishes to steal it in order to buy more popularity and power for himself as he divides the spoils.
Its a mix of Stalins fiscal policies with Hitlers grab for power...it will be interesting to watch the eventual collapse.
Sounds like a typical liberal to me. Jimmie Carter called him a saint.

They'll probably do quite well as they have been so far. Chavez will probably retain the popularity of the people in his country and they will probably enjoy cheaper telecom access including faster Internet access at lower prices than we pay here in our "competetive market".
Rest assured the "Stalinist" in Vz enjoys a much higher popularity rating that your own president enjoys here in the US. Bad and evil as he is he must be doing something right for his people.

Rest assured the private investors were pocketing the cash and giving next to nothing back to the country that provided the resource and the consumers. Meanwhile the country lived impoverished. Now, they are finally getting an ROI. He's dividing the "spoils" with the people who live in his country. Something our politicians have forgotten about.

Of course he is, right now he still has industry and infrastructure to steal and divide the spoils.... and giving people stuff will makek him popular. But when he runs out of thinsg to steal, it gets harder.
Wait 15 years and see how well he is doing. No doubt he will still be in power, but I doubt by a vote of any form. Socialsim never works long term, history has shown that.
I predict he will rule what will eventually become the next North Korea...look how well socialism worked for them compared to the capitalist pigs in the south.

It's hard to "steal" whats yours to begin with. That would be like you stealing your car from yourself.

Really, so I can walk down to the local Bellsouth office and declare it mine and I have stolen nothing?
Wow, I think I will go claim my nuclear power plant tomorrow!
Sorry, but if private business built and financed this infrastructure, nationalizing is stealing. If he paid them for it, it would not be.

It's not that same.If you cannot see the difference then you are indeed blind. In this case it is the resources of his nation and his people that have been expoited for profit. For years these corporations have profited and given little in return. It is not "stealing" as the nationalization process is not as simplistic as you are implying. Companies are often compensated.

I will bet they are not compensated, or if they are it is at far less than market value.
That makes it theft. No matter what the history behind it. My nieghbor growing up used to be mean to me and used to exploit the labor of us poor kids paying us supstandard wages to do chores for him, and giving us little in return. That doesn't mean I have the right to go take his home now.
Just because theft is done by the state does not make it legitimate. Right is right, wrong is wrong.
