Just a little something to break up the waste-o-time wanking about politics.
Here's a nice video.
Rolling in my sweet baby's arms - Earl Scruggs, Ricky Scaggs, Doc Watson (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aH7Dz6mBjO8)
Ok, next...

Ok, nobody liked that one, how about this one?
Rolling in my sweet baby's arms - Johnny Cash and June Carter (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8TbHmmEIvY)
...or...
at the other end of the tempo scale
Rollling in my sweet baby's arms - Lester Flatt (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=stngsjVnsNg)

I prefer "Man of Constant Sorrow" myself. Particularly the version used in the movie, "O Brother, Where Art Thou?".
There's a Peter Paul and Mary version of "Man of Constant Sorrow". Totally different melody.
I like the "Union Station" version better too.

Checking out some new (to me) symphonic metal:
Rhapsody - Emerald Sword
Theatre Of Tragedy - Lorelei
Ayreon - to the solar system
Leave's Eyes - New Found Land
Pretty good stuff. Unfortunalty it seems the USA and the UK are falling behind when it comes to some musical creativity. These are bands from Norway, Finnland and Germany (I think) but they sing in English.

Not to mention Siguros of Iceland.
Can't get past the word Rhapsody without thinking of Lou Christy's melodramatic song "Rhapsody in the Rain" of 1966. That had rather sparse but very 'forward' lyrics for the era.
Ahhh, there's nothing like the classics..... now turn this up!

AB8RO,
Wow - thanks for the Earl Scruggs & Lester Flatt - two of my favorites!
Don't have any links to share right now, but a few of my favorites are:
The Dixie Dregs, Yes, Little Feat, Bob Dylan, Allman Brothers, Tower of Power, Frank Zappa, Pink Floyd, Emerson Lake & Palmer, ZZ Top, Rush, Robin Trower, Oak Ridge Boys, The Bobs, The Who, Bela Fleck & the Flecktones, Maynard Ferguson, Billy Joel....and so many more I can't name them all.....
There is really only one type of music that I don't really care for - rap. Other than that - if it's well done, I will appreciate it.

I'm not a rap fan for the most part, but, I disagree with you. People are quick to criticize rap, however, I suspect that most who criticize aren't able to even re-create rap, let alone create it. By definition, it implies that some have the "talent" to create rap, while others don't.
Here ya go, some better quality "rap", well "hip-hop."

Hate Mail? I'd rather send you a quarton of single malt!
Bad doggeral heavily laced with hate, violence and obscenity chanted monotonously against dull repetitious riffs in a barely comprehensible accent. Its anti-music. An evening of that and I would be emulating Renoir!

FYI, I did give rap a fair shake years ago...I tried, just couldn't do it. #To each their own I suppose. #I have listened to several of your links before, some aren't too bad. #Personally I prefer any "real" country/bluegrass, some new country, southern rock, most classic rock, and alot of the new stuff (3 doors down, Stone Sour, Papa Roach is a bit "screamy" for me, but they do have some good tunes, and a few other new groups.) #The list goes on and on...
Dire Straits

Reckless Kelly
Jim Nabors (that's right, 'ol Gomer Pyle himself!)

David Allen Coe
