Here's my latest bikes.
1984 Yamaha IT200 enduro. Very light, and fast. DG exhaust. Effortless wheelies. 6th gear is scary fast. 195cc 2 stroke with loads of low end torque.-

Here's the speed demon. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif '74 Vespa Ciao. Cost me $60, goes like 25 MPH. I plan to use it for a daily driver come spring (150 MPG).-

Well, I'm impressed! # # One great FUN off road bike and another CHEAP (With super gas mileage) bike to use for local transportation.
(Not to mention the great investment potential of #old bikes like that!)
And a few months of crummy weather now for plenty of time to get them both cleaned up and ready for next summer.

I owned the third Yamaha AT1MX in Michigan. #My friend Mark
got the second one and some kid in Detroit got the first.
That was in 1973. #I had many great times riding and racing
Yamaha dirt bikes when I was a kid. #As I got older I got
bigger and faster bikes like the venerable YZ250. #Going
almost 100 miles per hour down powerline 2 tracks is a
young man's game and since going slow is no fun, I no
longer ride. #Man, was it fun when I did though! #Trust me,
if you ever push yourself to the limit of your riding skills,
no one can scare you like you can scare yourself!

Probably the scariest thing I've done with it is either going way too fast for the drum brakes to take a turn in a field (thank God the front has new brake shoes), or hit a dang railroad tie in the middle of a field doing about 20 mph after coming up a hill. The stupid tie had grass over it, and I couldn't see it. Wow, that freaked me out. Had I been on a friend's bike, I'd be seriously hurt.
It was also scary when the front right tire came flying off my ATV at about 20 MPH. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif I broke the spindle in 2 places on the steering knuckle.
Edit- the RR tie was laying down, not standing up in the ground. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Come out here to New York and you can ride your bike in a tee shirt. We're having the warmest december I've ever seen.

That Vespa moped looks interesting. I remember back in the 1970's when mopeds were gaining huge popularity here in the New York area.
I currently own a vintage (1970's) Peugeot moped. Got it for free from a friend a few years ago and I did some restoration work on it. Replaced the tires, replaced all the brake and throttle cables, replaced the grips, brake levers, added new mirrors, repaired the headlamp, replaced the gas line and added a fuel filter. Still need to replace the tail light and the throttle. The bike runs great. Not the best hill climber but will get me up most moderately steep hills. Plenty of power and pretty fast on level ground and down hill. Brakes are pretty squeaky so I'll probably need to replace them too.
Since I don't have it registered I rarely ride it. Occasionally take it for a quick test spin round the neighborhood. Matter of fact I should roll it out and take it for a spin while the warm December weather remains.

I wiped out on this dirtbike for the first time today. Went out driving it on the icy driveway. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Was riding along the side where grass was, came to a turn, and had to go across an icy part. Barely moving in 2nd gear, and it just came out from under me. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
RE: chainsaw-
Now now, no Husqvarna around here. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Actually, I don't care what brand of saw it is, just as long as it is orange. And not spray painted orange. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
RE: the moped
Check 1977mopeds.com for the parts you need. I don't know much about peugeots, but 1977mopeds has lots of parts. Or, go check around Mopedarmy.com. I'm "hamradio" around the forums there.

The worst crash I ever had was on a Suzuki 90.
It would go 70 mph if I layed down on the tank and put my left hand behind my back.
That is what I was doing one day going down the powerlines.
A guy on a Yamaha 250 going about 75 passed me and when he did,
the pocket on his Army coat snagged the left handlebar on my 90
and I bit the dirt big time. #I was on crutches for a while after that.
The crash was my fault, I 'changed lanes' without checking to see
if there was anyone trying to pass me. #
Thanks for the memories!

I've had four bikes. I totalled one of them with only 2.5k miles on it. It was an '02 Honda VFR (very fast ride). I high sided it and went into a cattle fence, separating my left shoulder in the process. Good thing I was wearing leathers. My current bike is an '03 Kawasaki 636R. Love it. Been looking at the Suzuki VStrom's lately. I must be getting old....

I think V Strom's are very cool bikes. Almost as cool as a VW Jetta TDI. ;)

For a temporary fix on the breaks, try "brake stop squeak" or similar. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif I've heard it works on drums.

Hey, I guess I am getting old. I was looking at one of thes veedub's and thinking about how
good the gas mileage was. I was also thinking about if they had any electronic tuners to up the
boost or power. I have a Duramax Chevy with a tuner and that thing puts some sports cars
to shame...

You can really tune a Vdub. Check out sites like dubtuners.com. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif That VW 1.8T engine puts out like 180 HP from the factory, and a VW 2.8 VR6 puts out like 174 HP from the factory. The old TDI's put out like 90 HP, but I thought the newer ones make closer to 180-190. Not bad for a 4 cyl.

300+ hp and 50+ mpg at the same time are possible out of that VW TDI engine, really is a great little engine.
Here is my bike, its fast as hell and comfortable enough that I have done over 600 miles in a day with it.

Its a fun one to hit the mountain roads down in Colorado with:)

But the bike can't run on straight veggie oil. If I had any diesel vehicle, it'd be converted to used oil by me faster than I could hack video onto my iPod nano. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Chain seems alright to me. Shouldn't be really tight on a bike, if I recall. I'll check my service manual.

Might just be the pictures, just looks droopy. Usual rule of thumb is 3/4" to to 1 1/4" if I remember, but yeah check the manual.

Well, I'm not going to be riding it a whole lot this winter. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Unless I find a better spot to ride. Riding down an icy road doesn't work.

Move out here. It never snows around here.
