An aide to Montana Republican Denny Rehberg was busted trying to hire hackers to change his grades at Texas Christian University. Wonderful!

The excuse? He was drinking heavily and has "sought treatment".

Thankfully, this political career self-destructed before it could begin a new generation of graft and corruption.

The bottle seems to be the new Republican excuse for bad behavior. Rather ironic coming from the party of supposed personal responsibility.

Wow man cool avatar,I cant seem to get one yet. There are some of us who no longer can drink successfully, and so are sober .Im not against drinking but after being sober 22 yrs ,(a friend of bill w)I see new guys who are trying to get sober and if they dont change the way they act in this world, they go back out and try it some more.A lot of them die an early death. Some kill others in drunk driving accidents.I personally met a guy who finally got sober after several attempts and it took hitting a young lady in a crosswalk,I believe she was partially paralyzed. We have a saying in the program,"if you sober up a drunken horse thief, you get a sober horse thief.Thank God every day that I didnt kill or maim anybody.I do know this we dont get people who have a beer now and then, its the guy or lady who has to drink to make life bareble and then one day they want to stop but cant, normal people dont get drunk, only someone who has that gene that says to the other genes MORE! But once their bottom is hit we have a way to live a wonderful life ,and being sober one day at a time is the only secret we have.Im not here to evangelize or to save anybody,we dont do that.If you wanna drink ,ok thats your problem,If you wanna get sober then maybe I can help .But the sad fact is that we get people who are sent to a program,a detox or they gotta go to x number of meetings .They get their cards signed and after they get done they turn right around and start drinking or using ,they gotta make up for lost time,.But we also say stay sober for 30 days then if you want to go drink we will gladly refund all your misery back to you.My life works real good for me now.I just got through with battling throat cancer this last year.I was a ble to stay sober, meaning I didnt have to drink abt it.They gave me pain meds and I was able to use the medicine the way it was suppose to work for me.the program I go to is a life time commitment and I only have to worry abt now, this moment,.Yesterday is a cancled check, tomorrow is a promisary note, but today is cash. When I die maybe my higher power will ask me two questions"Did you have fun"and how did you treat my children"A very simple way to live.

WOW...now that's up there, with former CLINTON official, Sandy Berger, stuffing classified documents in his pants and hiding them under a construction trailer. #Better know as the Fruit of the Loom cover up.

I just don't buy the "I did it cause I was high" mentality. Yes, I understand that with some people getting a bit too drunk can lead on to do things they normally wouldn't do on a spur of the moment. Likewise desperation for some drugs and need of money can lead on to steal or committ crimes they otherwise wouldn't committ. But when it comes to such crimes as breaking into private computers or having ongoing relationships with underage White House pages I think that is pushing the "I was stoned" excuse way too far.

I tried my share of booze, drugs and stuff. Yes I never found myself at anytime being so out of control that I would need to break into a computer and change my grades or, have a relationship with a person under legal age. Matter of fact I generally found myself quite in control of and responsible for my actions along with a clear sense of what is right and what is wrong.

In short I am saying that the Republicans (and others) have taken the "under the influence" excuse a wee bit too far. It's getting lame.

In alot of ways your perfectly right.Alot of people try to say "oh the devil made me do it,or I ws under the spell of the drink, pill, etc. But 99 %of th time that person will do what ever they want as you stated you knew what you were doing.Alot of people want to do things that they consider not really good Ideas but with alittle push from the "liquid courage"and then going way over the line they dont want to admit that they really have those :"bad behaviour patterns".And some do what ever they want and dont know how to stop, they wait for someone to grab em like a cop or boss,or the wife says Im leavin if you dont clean up your act,and a lot of the spouses do get divorced when they realise what they married. There are so many degrees of behaviour, that we take turns playin with, our alter egos. The jeckle and hyde syndrom.

So are you prepared to demand better or just take what your political party gives you?
