Now that the order is official, and after reading several things I found out that I don't even have to upgrade to use HF.. NoCode Techs are being given Tech+ operating freq's... Awesome...

So for all of you "it will never happen" guys, all I can say is... See you on HF!

One minor technicality.

There are no more tech+'s, just Tech's.

Besides, I thought you passed your element 1 already?

Oh, and one more thing...

Unless you're using SSB between 28.3 to 28.5, or data on 10m, you'll have to use CW.

Well then DCE we'll see you on 40 CW. I'll QRS just for you.

I used to use minnows. Shrimp works pretty good, too.

I do think it is good that Techs who know CW can move down now (when the new rules become effective) and work the same frequencies as Generals and above, or at least some of them. That will help them improve their CW skills.

That's a good thing!

No Ed, you are not exactly right.. When the new rules become effective, Techs CANNOT work the same frequencies as Generals.. True, the Techs can work the Generals and above.. But the "upper classmen" have to come to them. Techs will have the same HF sub bands that are allocated to Novice which is smaller than what is allocated to Generals..

I see this misinformation posted all over this forum.. Everone, please read both the recent R & Os and study the new band plan... If we're going to elmer these Techs into HF, lets give them the correct information..

All the more incentive for current Techs to hit the books and get that General ticket. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Does this mean that NCT who are truck drivers ( or any one else ) can now use their GALAXY / RANGER 10 meter rigs legally, complete with their FCC issued callsign ?

You are absolutely correct! I should have said "some" of the same frequencies as the Generals!

Better yet, go for the extra. That way you don't have to worry about those verboten middle band sections.
