I'm listening to a ham on 14266 playing Santa, lots of hams with kids making calls and letting the little ones talk to Santa on the radio. This guy is doing a great job, he obviously knows how to talk to kids, and it's really entertaining listening to the children talking so seriously to Santa. I can't think of a better use for a transceiver than bringing a little smile to these kids (and to me). KUDOS to this ham!!! Special event station? Sounded like the call was "Whiskers six Santa" (I'm having to listen while doing other stuff) but I'm not sure.

OK, duh, I googled it and it's an annual thing but I never heard it before. Give it a listen if you enjoy this kind of thing, and if you have little ones it's a good opportunity to get them into the shack.

Yep, Mickey, WO6T does this every year as W6S (Whiskers Six Santa).
Usually on 20 or 17 ... been going on for several years now.

I was listening to him earlier - he said he's been doing this for 30-some years?! There's a special place in heaven reserved for guys like him.

I've got the call in my watch list so that when he gets spotted to the cluster my daughter can come talk to him.
