The commonwealth of Pennsylvania cannot get a state wide 800 mHz system to work, lots of luck getting a national 700 mHz to work.

Someone's out to make a buck,

It may work in west Texas and in other states that are pretty "flat" and with few trees. But, in areas that have any foliage (leaves on trees, pine needles, etc.), or in areas with rapidly varying terrain, the system isn't going to work that well except maybe during the winter months.

The commercial 450 MHz band is affected by foliage and the 800 MHz and 900 MHz bands are affected even more.

It would be nice if they would setup a nationwide broadband network to provide both emergency and day to day internet access for everyone.
