View Full Version : Missile Launching Tubes Found in Mobile, AL

Wednesday morning I awoke to watch the news as always; on WKRG ch. 5 they reported that "at least three missile launcher tubes were uncovered" in Paulk's Moving & Storage warehouse, right across from where I work on I-65!!! The matter has been handed over to the BATF, who's not saying anything. The matter IS being investigated for who shipped them from where, for whom and to where. These were military-grade launchers, but no missiles were found with them. Being in between two major airports, near Christmas, I'd like to know where those missiles are and if they're here, what's been done to secure them!?!?
Two things come to mind: there have been several things happen in Mobile, AL since 9/11/01 that were terrorist related- is this related as well?
Or, could this be something that was obtained in a government auction by a law-abiding citizen who just wanted something neat to own?
I hope & pray it's the latter....
Anyone seen this on the national news, or is it confined locally? "They" have been quiet since the newscasts....

I say we get someone to say they saw the missiles inside the building and then we invade. #
We can then leave the building with only partial electricity, no water and occupy it for six or ten years.
All along we will claim that the occupation has nothing to do with the several billion barrels of oil stored in the basement of the warehouse. # http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif
That's nothing. I've seen bomb casings for sale at hamfests.

Launchers or just transportation cases?http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif

Empty LAW tubes, maybe? I don't think they are illegal to own, but I might be mistaken. Are missle launching tubes illegal at all? The missles, sure, but launchers? I don't know.

Are there civilian-grade launchers?

Yes. They have a label that says "NERF." http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Correct!!! Its the Phoenix Missile from Estes. It uses the D-12 Estes or the Aerotech E engines. ( I only flown it on D-12s)
Launched many times in the day, once at night and that was a sight to see.

Cool!
I've got an Estes Maxi-Force here, all built and been waiting for paint for a number of years. This was one of the first models Estes brought back a number of years ago with the clustered engine configuration. It takes three D engines.
Also have a Saturn V that I've flown a couple of times. Used to do quite a bit of the rocket stuff, but haven't been into it for quite a while now. My fave was the Commanche 3-stage.

Typical media overreaction.
Hell, right next to me at work I have empty Law tubes, and empty AT-4 tube, a sonobouy, a bunch of .50 cal blanks and live rounds to include some armor piercing incendiary rounds, an empty TOW missle tube, and a dummy RPG-7.
I am sure the media would have a field day reporting it too, but everyone else just comes in to shop and thinks it is "neat".
Count me in as another rocketeer: the engine of choice (before the Ds) was the C6-5.
My favorite bird was a plain-looking rocket from FSI (I don't know if they're still in business or not). It was made for E engines, known as "steam machines" because of the contrails they left.
The rocket lasted only one flight: it didn't spin on its axis at all, just roared skyward, arced over, and disappeared into a distant stand of trees; we looked high and low for it but never found it. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif
Speaking of Rockets, I just bought my son one for Christmas. It is also made by Estes but it is powered by hydrogen. You put water in it, it uses electrolysis to split the hydrogen and oxygen then detonates it. It will be neat to see how well it works. Out of the box it says 100 feet but I may have to fix that......

LAUNCHERS....and WKRG has been silent about it ever since.
One of my fellow workers said he also saw it on the 10PM news Tuesday night.

Yeah, buddy, I hope just media over-reaction...I think I'll try to call 'em to see if they'll talk to me, since we're neighboring businesses....

Don't be scared boys. Its too difficult to get inside the US. Its far easier to get into the UK if anybody fancies planting a few bombs on buses or trains, we're in the front row.
Just you relax, have a few beers, smoke a spliff and just enjoy Christmas.
