I missed the original item. The followup was really disappointing. No mention of Ham Radio. I should have gotten off my fat a** and phoned/emailed a comment.

CANADA!!?? That's one of those states up north around Minnesota somewhere isn't it, or is it upper Michigan? I think Robby Robertson is from there.

Must be a slow news night.

Either that or they reported it and got a good chuckle out of it?

No. That's one of those states down SOUTH near Minnesota or Michigan maybe.

You're both wrong. It's on the Olemann River between Califraska and East Dakota.

Seriously, though... I work for a station that airs "As It Happens" [distributed here by American Public Media] in the evenings. When I heard on the billboard [our lingo for the opening "what's coming up" minute or two] that they'd be doing this story, I let a few ham friends know that they might want to listen, just for the heck of it.

As it happened [HEH!!!], there was nothing in the report that we didn't know.

No, Minnesota is Baja Canada.

I think it's interesting that FCC's action would get mentioned in Canada, but not in the American press as far as I can see.

How much can a program on Socialists Radio be counted?

Maybe the manufacturers could include an application for an amateur radio license in the box of each radio they sell, much as they did in the old days in the cb radio boxes. Of course no test would be required.

I like to tease my Canadian friends by reminding them that our XE friends have made it from Eh to See (Or is that "A" to "C"?) http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Hello to all my VE7 friends, and I agree with them -I think the RAC did a better job then the FCC on this one.

Reading the comments regarding the CBC story just confirms for me (A Canadian) how dumbed down Amateur radio is becoming.

The UP is a suburb of Canada.

The lower peninsula is Paradise wrapped in a Sno-Cone.

Considering our immigration problems, they might be closer to the truth than we want to think . . .
