Ahhhh... yes!
Well, now that the morse code requirement has gone "flat-line", (may it rest in peace), maybe now we can get to work on the following improvements such as:
1: getting them to allow NBFM on the upper end of the voice segments of the 12M and 15M bands just like on 10M but for simplex only because on 12M the band is too narrow for even one repeater and on 15M nobody needs a repeater thanks to better propegation. It would just be nice to not sound like donald duck on every HF band.
2: expanding 30M 500khz upward to make a 350Khz wide general and 150khz wide extra sehment for USB voice adjacent above the non-voice section of 30M even if it is restricted to say 300W max.
3: Opening 2 small USB voice bands say between 300-500KHz for general class upto 300W and another between 70-120Khz for extra class only upto 300W
4: allowing general class voice on 160M upto 300W
5: changng all the current QRP amateur voice power limits to 300W max which is not enough of an increase to call unreasonable yet just enough to make things much more interesting.

You seem to have an obsession with higher power limits and wide bandwidth modes.
Instead, why not try something more efficient and try to use less power?
Seriously. Some of the best hams out there are those who will make do with lower power limits, and who try to operate with as little power as possible.
A ham station is better off getting better antennas than getting more power into an inefficient antenna.
Just remember that ham radio is two way communication. Putting out a lot of power into an inefficient antenna is no good if you can't hear the guy on the other end. Not everyone can afford or wants an amp, especially DX stations. In fact in some countries they're limited only to low power (100w or less) on some bands.
As for not sounding like donald duck, I think FM on the HF bands would be a waste of spectrum. With no-code HF there are going to be more people on the bands, spectrum can't really be wasted. There's digital SSB if you're into high quality audio. I heard many no-coders saying that they're thankful that we're now into the 21st century. Well I got news for ya. SSB and FM aren't exactly 21st century. The 21st century is digital.
Wider bands may not be a bad idea, but there are users on your proposed band segments. We could be given secondary allocations but face the same problem we face on 40m, i.e. qrm from the primary users that completely drown us.

Re item 2. That is an internationally allocated band. The FCC cannot expand it. Has to be done internationally. This is a WARC band. It is also shared with non-amateur services, and our power output, regardless of class, is limited to 200 watts, CW only. This is not established by our FCC but by international agreement.
Item 3. Not likely. It has been very difficult to get even very low power (5 or 10 watts) experimental allocation in those areas due to international navigational beacons and maritime services. These allocations have to be coordinated with the member nations of the ITU.
Item 4. General class already has full amateur privileges on 160 meters, 1800-2000 khz. In some areas of the country there are power restrictions on this band, again due to maritime navigational equipment, but that is slowly disappearing.
Item 5. QRP is not an official "rule." It is a suggested designation that 'suggests' that one must run low power (the present suggestion is 10 watts, I believe) to say one is running QRP. In years past even 50 watts might be considered QRP. Technically, QRP means "I will reduce power." We use it to claim we are running under ten watts output. Or maybe it's five, I have forgotten. Whatever, it is NOT a "rule." Just a practice.
Re item 1. Repeaters on ten meters are to allow low power radios to communicate over long ranges, just as on 2 meters or 6 meters. But if propagation is bad, the repeaters don't get out either. Bad prop is bad prop.
When propagation is good, a repeater isn't needed. The original concept of ten meter repeaters was to provide good local ground wave coverage that could not easily be achieved by low power mobile radios. It was not to "work DX." However, if the propagation is good, I can sit here in New Mexico and work a NYC repeater on ten meters. Only thing is, I could also work a station in NYC direct on SSB or CW, or even AM. The propagation is the key.
We do have new things to address, though. In particular how to best utilitize the expanded phone bands we just acquired through the Omnibus R&O, and how to manage some sort of accord that will not further divide amateur radio between the upcoming NCG/NCE and the CG/CE. We need to get past that, but I would guess it is going to take some time, as well as some real efforts to be diplomatic on the parts of both the pro and anti code people.

I think the CB 11m band should be shut down and the band given back to Amateur Radio. CB radio operations should be moved to the FRS/GMRS band in the future. Then the 12m, 11m, and 10m bands should be merged to make it one giant Amateur Radio band in the upper part of the HF section of the Radio spectrum.

Already in the works under a slightly different variant. CB and amateur radio are merging. In fact, we've almost completed phase one of that merger. Been on 2 meters lately?
Sorry, bad idea ESD. The "freebanders" will not leave the area, no matter whom it is licensed to! They have no respect for the current laws, which is why you hear them all over the spectrum , including up in to the current 10 meter CW and higher frequencies!
Only thing that is going to straighten out that mess would be some SERIOUS fines, and/or imprisonment, and I don't that that is going to happen any time soon!

That there is reason #1 why CB will not go away for a good long while. It's in use quite a lot. Sure they have cell phones, but truckers still heavily use the CB.
FRS/GMRS is already overcrowded in some areas.
Besides, remember that 11m freebanding is an international activity. If you make the 11m band a legal ham band, many of the hams in the USA will be QSOing with pirates.

The FCC could never enforce it. It would be as assinine as the "war on drugs" and in the end just as croocked if they tried. We'd see taxes wasted and authority abused, etc. and as a conservative libertarian I'd never go for it any more than I'd support guin control because makiung more new laws only affects law abiders, not the people who make "export rigs" and illegal amps. And then there is the "grandfathered allocation" issue. and also the truckers would strike which would put the whole nations nads in a pair of vise-grips by doing so. Man, I'd rather expand 12M downward than put up with that nightmare. As for groundwaving... there is always 6-meters and remember that formerly analog VHF-TV channels will soon be avaiulable for reallocation and that is a lot of MHz to carve up so hams better try to get 4M if they can as well as expanding 1.3M downward to where TV channels 12 and 13 now are when they are gone and that is a nice chunk of VHF bandwidth and maybe even ask for
some more bandwidth where the analog brick phones used to be alocated in the upper 800MHz area to expand teh 900Hz band downward which is a really good wavelength for HT and repeater use in metropolitan areas which is why the telcos used to like it before they went digital and swiped our bandwith in the 2GHz and 5GHz spectrum. The FCC knows they will soon have a lot of space opening in said areas and we better ask for all we can get hoping at least SOME of that bandwith will fall our way but we wont get ANY of it if we dont campagn for it.

Tired PC-ALE, couldn't get a link even though I can sound just fine. Still turn on scanning every once in a while when I'm not using the rig for a QSO and haven't seen any activity in the past month.
Guess I'll uninstall PC-ALE and try something else I haven't played with yet like Olivia.

The line "need not say anything more" does imply to the casual reader that you are trying to discredit his point of view on one subject by suggesting his view on another is extreme or outside of the norm. This is logical fallacy and it is a form of an ad hominem attack. It's not, in and of itself racist.
But, KA4DPO's response would be considered racist in some cases, it certainly crosses the line.
Had he responded with "that's a big ten four good buddy", then it would be more difficult to make such a claim. But, in fact, he included specific slang that is typically associated with black people. The underlying tone is that N2GOD can be ignored because he is black.
I agree with very little of N2GOD's political or religious perspective., I submit, however, that he has the right to hold those views whether you, or I, agree with them or not. It's also the case that bringing those views into an amateur radio discusssion as an attempt to discredit his position is logical fallacy, and further, the "nod nod wink wink" reference to his race via slang was completely uncalled for.

OK, people! Cut the personal attacks else someone (and that can be plural) is going to suffer some "down time" here on QRZ.com.
Also, FM IS allowed below 29 MHz anywhere that phone operation is allowed EXCEPT for the 60 meter band. The only restriction is that the modulation index cannot exceed 1. Since the maximum modulating frequency on HF is usually below 3000 Hz this means that the maximum deviation cannot exceed +/- 3 KHz. Many of the import HF transceivers have a "narrow" FM setting which restricts the deviation to +/- 2.5 KHz which is PERFECTLY legal for operation below 29 MHz. Above 29 MHz a modulation index of greater than 1 is allowed. For example, +/- 5 KHz deviation on 29.6 MHz with a maximum modulating frequency of 3000 Hz results in a modulation index of 1.66667

The line "need not say anything more" does imply to the casual reader that you are trying to discredit his point of view on one subject by suggesting his view on another is extreme or outside of the norm. But, KA4DPO's response would be considered racist in some cases, it certainly crosses the line.
Had he responded with "that's a big ten four good buddy", then it would be more difficult to make such a claim. But, in fact, he included specific slang that is typically associated with black people. The underlying tone is that N2GOD can be ignored because he is black.
I agree with very little of N2GOD's political or religious perspective., I submit, however, that he has the right to hold those views whether you, or I, agree with them or not. It's also the case that bringing those views into an amateur radio discusssion as an attempt to discredit his position is logical fallacy, and further, the "nod nod wink wink" reference to his race via slang was completely uncalled for.

You'll notice that I did not address your comments. I addressed the two comments which, although may have been improperly attributed to you by N2GOD, did carry a racist undertone. Comments that involve race can incite anger and may illicit an irrational response.
Some of his comments, in particular, with regard to your race, were also uncalled for. However, it's pretty clear to me that the anger was incited by two comments, one ad hominem, the other, in my opinion, clearly racist. Neither comment was made by you and I never suggested that they were.

Hello.
"The Truckers" are happy on a very small part of 11 meters.
14, 16, 18, and 20 are the "Mexican channels", used by the Spanish speaking bunch.
15, 17, and 21 are the alternates for,
19, 27.185MHz, the most used channel on all of HF.
In europe CB is on FM and but the US and Canada are still AM.
The FCC, under international agreement allow CEPT units to operate in the US.
The German units can do all of 25 watts but can do FM.
If the FCC were to allow mixed mode and 25 watts on the 8 channels, a rig that did 40 channels 4 watts AM and the 8 for transition would be fine.
An 8 channel CB would be great, license it as some GMRS extension if need be.
Than allow hams on the remaining parts with a 5 KHz buffer each side of the 8 channels and you have it made.
We CDL holders would be happy, the Amateur community would be happy.
Have it as a part of the new Novice license, 1 year non renewable and the OM's will be happy.
