View Full Version : Ofcom Launch on-line Licensing

Please Read All of this Information Before Proceeding!!

On the 1st of December 2006 Ofcom launched a New on-line Licensing process for the New Lifetime Licence.

You will need to Register with Ofcom so that you can Log into the Ofcom web site and Upgrade your Licence and have access to your Licence details on-line.

Those wishing to have a Paper Licence can still do so by paper application and paying the £20 fee or waiting for Ofcom to send you a Free lifetime licence when your current annual licence expires?

When you have Registered with Ofcom you can then Apply for your Lifetime Licence even if your current licence is not due for renewal at the present time!!

Below is the Information needed to Register with Ofcom....

This is the link to Ofcom http://www.ofcom.org.uk/licensing/olc/ #
When you open the page click on Register or login to the Ofcom Licensing Service
Fill out your details and follow the on screen prompts Only Left clicking them ONCE!!!!

After 5 working days Ofcom will send you a letter confirming your Log in Name,
This will be your First Initial and your Surname in Capitol letters with NO spaces!!

When you have your Log in name use this Link Again to Log in http://www.ofcom.org.uk/licensing/olc/

Once Logged in (Home page) Click on Details at the Top Right of the page,
This will show your Name & Address and a Box for your E-mail address which may be BLANK!! If so then Enter your e-mail address in this box and then click SAVE. Or you will NOT receive your Validation e-mail.
Then Return to the Home page by Clicking on Home at the Top Left or Right of the web page.

The Home page will show your Licence details Under "My Licences" and next to it on the left in Red will be your licence Number, Click on the licence number to take you to the next page (Summery page)

The next page (Summery page) will show your Name and address and call sign and at the Bottom of the Page is a place to Download Your Licence, this will be BLANK!!
Above your name and address It will say Licence Summery and Above that it will say Validate, Edit and Surrender ect....
Click Validate and Follow the on screen Prompts, ONLY LEFT CLICK ONCE each time for next or continue or Ok ect.
Once done return to the Home page (by clicking on Home top Left or Right corner of the web page).

Do this for Each Licence you hold such as Foundation, Intermediate or Full?

Now on the Home page Click the Licence Number in Red again to take you back to the next page (Summery page), You will notice now that the Validation date has changed for the next 5 years but there is NO Licence to download!!

You Now Need to upgrade your Licence to a Life Time Licence as the Validation you have just done is for your Current Yearly Licence!!

On the Summery page Next to Validate Click EDIT, then follow the on screen prompts....
Remember to ONLY Left Click ONCE on each page!! (The Ofcom website is Very Slow and you will think it is not working)
It will ask if you want to apply for or change your Licence click Yes ect to do this.
Once you have Completed this Process Return to the Home page and then Click your licence Number in Red again to take you to the next page (Summery page) and at the bottom will be Your Lifetime Licence to Download!!
Do this for Each Licence you Hold.

Beware; Internet Explorer Pop up Blocker may prevent you from downloading it!!

Edit: Known Problems with the Web site

1.
When you Log into the Web site your Licence details are shown under "My Current Licence Applications" It appears that you are applying for a New Licence, You Need to Contact Ofcom to sort this Out!!
Your Licence details Should be shown Under "My Licences"

2.
After Validating your licence you then Click on EDIT, On the Next page you have an Error Message!!
Do NOT continue any further and Contact Ofcom.
If you do Continue you will create another Licence of the same as you Already have!!

Edit: Known Problems with the Web site

Just an Update....

Internet Explorer 7 security settings are preventing some people from downloading their licence once they have completed the process.

If you have this problem then telephone Ofcom they will e-mail your licence to you!!
