This may sound like a crazy idea but maybe sometime we should get on the air and try to make a QSO among each other on AM. People say AM is a waste of time, heck being young we got nothing but time #. I think it might be fun to try an AM QSO among each other. What do you think?

Good idea
We should all make an effort
as youths to use what others dont

I am serious about this. There is no big problem with AM except for SSB. It actually might be fun. It would also be a change since the only AM radio in the US now seems to be truckers yelling insults at each other as well as talk shows, CB is pretty dirty in the US

Who's in to maybe try some 75 meter AM this winter?

Count me out, no 75 meters.
but you know what you could do??
offer 100 dollars to everyone that checks into an am net lol

so its not that much of a waste of time.

Just kidding

You should try it, make some noise, get other hams into the habit of it.

The other day I asked, "why do you use USB on some bands and LSB on others?" to which i was told, Just because??

well thats bs. go for it!

well....we have a better chance of daytime propagation on 20 meters so I guess 20 makes more sense

we should avoid 40 because they already have AM, broadcast that is

who wants to try it?

hey, just remember that AM is about 6 KHz wide so give yourself about 8 KHz between any other station on 20m as not to interfer, thats one reason am is not used as much, its pretty wide for HF, but anyways, haave fun with it... also give 10m Fm a shot as well

almost every band has AM calling frequencies, even 20m so try to stick to them or as close as you can, just remember to check for other stations because they will be garbled and sometimes sound like noise if they are SSB..... anyways, have fun with it guys!
