Ever noticed how hard it is to depress the button on this and simalar mics?

open the microphone up with the three screws
and take out the lever for the PTT
and see that little piece of foam??
The pink one?
well replace it with a pink Eraser from a pencil
(Glue it)
and you will never have problems again
please note that you should trim the eraser so that it isnt to long, make it about the same length as the foam that was in there previous

The older mic's had the "pink" button on the push-to-talk switch. I called Kenwood and they sent me a few of the new "white" buttons they now use. I put them in and the problem was solved. Your solution will do the trick as long as you trim the button to the correct size and the eraser is not to hard. It's an easy fix replacing it, as you pointed out. Good post.

You can even feel the micro switch kick in!
