AMSAT at the Tampa Hamfest

The Tampa Bay Hamfest, which will be held this year over the weekend of 2-3 December, is the largest amateur radio trade show on #Florida's west coast.

AMSAT will be well represented at the hamfest with a booth, live satellite demonstrations and an expanded forum session.

The hamfest will be held at the Manatee Civic Center in Palmetto, which in located in the south Tampa Bay Area - about halfway between downtown St. Petersburg and downtown Sarasota.

Actually, more accurately, its the West Central Florida Section ARRL Convention. And, its already happened, thanks to the slow posting of this information by the website "reviewers."

But, its dwarfed by the Orlando Hamcation, about 90 miles up the road. Now, that's a hamfest, come February........ Probably, the only thing larger is Dayton.

And, you can camp out in your RV or camper at Orlando and spend all THREE days at the 'fest. Actually, I think they open the gates for RVs on Thursday.

Orlando has a full compliment of manufacturers present. I only saw a Yaesu booth at the Manatee County fest. And, only for one year (out of the last 3 or so.)

Anybody care to describe this year's goings-on?
