I plan to hit the road some time early Saturday morning and drive US 27 all the way up. It's a nice ride, I did it last year. If the TS-440 is working, I'll try and be at 29600 kc FM as I draw near - figure about 1100-ish.
Looking for: RF amplifier and/or anything else that catches my monkey-like interest.

Been there the last couple years, though this year we have to work Sat. and going to help a new ham put up HF antenna on Sun. to keep him interested in an upgrade... Have fun and have a safe trip! GLD

I would love to go, but can't. It's a great hamfest. Maybe it will work out next year.

Thanks 'GLD. Here's hoping you (and 'pjw) can make it next year.
My buddy kc9ikk lives about half-way between and I was going to drag him along but he can't go. That's a shame. I'll try not to rub it in too much when I stop by on the way home. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

It was a nice but long drive (190 mi. each way, no interstates involved for most of it). A tip for those travelling US27 through eastern Indiana between Richmond and Ft. Wayne: watch for horse-drawn buggies. Those highway signs are not a joke. There's a fairly big Amish population there.
I picked up a SB-200 along with lots of neat stuff I don't really need. I've already thought out what I'll do to the thing to make it work in 160 metres. The four-day weekend coming up (notwithstanding panic calls from work) will be good for that project.
There were a few other hamfest travellers running 10-metre FM. That was a nice surprise. I usually can't scare up a thing in 10-metre FM.
