The beginning of what? The case of David Hicks went nowhere and the same may be expected from Germany as Australia, nothing substantial as the US thumbs it's nose at the world.

It's not left wing propaganda and it's not funny. Just because someone is locked in gitmo doesn't automatically mean they are evil terrorists or even did anything wrong. Lots of people were rounded up at the behest off hired thugs in Afghanistan who rounded up anyone they could grab, guilty or not.
The fact remains, the US is not exempt from international law. If there are indeed infractions of international law doesn't it foillow that it should be thoroughly investigated ? As an American citizen don't you feel that if representatives of your country did wrong it should be properly investigated.
Just because an official represents the USA doesn't mean they are incapable of breaking laws.

Here is the reason this is so ridiculous.
A country in Europe who is not one of the parties involved in the allegations on either side, decides to file a lawsuit against one. I foreign country files a lawsuit.
Now, there are VIDEOS of the other party involed(the party thats NOT being targeted with the lawsuit). These videos show prisoners and their captors. Those captors are CHOPPING THE HEADS OFF OF INNOCENT CIVILIANS WHO ARE NOT EVEN MILITARY OR FIGHTERS!
There is NO lawsuit filed against that side of the said parties. They even have the evidence, and nothing.
Stupidity and ignorance is spewing from this thread......................

There were Afghanis placed in Gitmo and Gitmo detainees are also involved in the lawsuit.

The left has been behind all these attacks on Gitmo from the beginning. Dig into the poltics and previous acts of those connected to this and see what thier history is.
As for "all kinds of people being rounded up and sent to Gitmo" claims, it takes about a dozen different screenings to make it there, we don't send everyone, in fact maybe .002% of those detained go there.
I was at a tiny little post, but we did detain folks almost weekly. First we called in a name and why we detained them. If the intel folks there were interested in them, we took them back, if not we dropped them off with the Afghan police. From there 99% were interviewed and then released or turned over to Afghan police, and the remaining 1% sent further up..
Ideas of us dragging tractor trailer loads of folks right up to the plane and sending them all to Gitmo are idiotic, we don't invest that much effort into someone unless there is a good reason.
And we did encounter ones that had been released from Gitmo and had gone back to thier old ways.....

They can ask him to surrender for arrest but all he has to do is laugh at them. Much like with Kissinger they can't come into the US to arrest him.
I'm an equal-opportunity imprisoner. I still think Janet Reno should do time for the trumped-up drug charges, use of military assets, and the ultimate deaths of the kids in Waco after they were gassed and burned.

I didn't say it was OK if we did "torture".
My argument is the fact that they are not going after the ones cutting heads off prisoners on video! They are only going after us. Notice the word "us". This is a lawsuit from the terrorists against the USA.

Well, did not the United States of America ASK that a German court hear the cases?
Remember, the German court system has been VERY pro-republican and very pro-Israeli, just what Bushco wants.
Busco just did not expect the democrats to take over congress, the British to withdraw suppport, the French to make noise, and the German people to change chief justice.
