"We are going to treat the minority, the Republicans, as they did not treat us. They'll be involved in decisions," Reid said. "I want to work with the president of the United States. I want to work with the Republican leader of the Senate, Republican leader of the House. We open our arms because we realize the only way to accomplish anything is on a bipartisan basis."

Wait while I get my hanky and wipe away my tears. #This guy is so sensitive to us poor republicans it breaks my heart wondering why he was out in the cold for so long. #Why we ignored him. #Sob, sob, Waaaahhhahh.

Quick, raise your hands if you think he is telling the truth. #Reid is actually a hit man for he dems. #Watch his actions along with the rest of the gang of 5.

I'm not hurt but I do tend to agree with CCW, the stress is gone and now its the dems turn.

I think we will find out very quickly the entire country will be hurting from the election and the dems are now saying "Oh crap, what did we do".

This will be fun.

I'm with you, WH...

What most of these fine left wing folks fail to realize is that this isn't a repeat of 1994 - a true revolution (of epic proportion, from sea to shining sea).

The GOP didn't get thrown out because they weren't acting enough like Shumer, Kennedy, Clinton, Durbin, et al. They got the boot because they betrayed the simple core Republican values of limited government, low/flat taxation, reined in spending and side issues like border security. It's just that simple.

But the Dems got their chance, so, as you aptly put it: this WILL be fun. #http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

John's point is well taken.

Reid tosses out an olive branch, and you guys want to bomb throw even BEFORE the Democrats take over!

What's pathetic is all this rhetoric you and WH are spewing is straight off talk radio talking points. Lots of "what if's" and no facts.

Wow, you really zinged NH with referencing something that happened over thirty years ago.

I don't need to gloat, the results are what they are. I'm happy the election turned out the way it did, but I don't see the need to rub anyone's face in it.

As for scandal, you'd think with the history of the Studds thing (it happened in the '70's) Foley would have been smart enough to avoid the problem. I guess he wasn't.

"Good for the Goose is Good for the Gander"? Using that logic, everyone would still be talking about Nixon. The Studds thing was only slightly after the Nixon era scandals. I think trashing current Republicans over the sins of the Nixon era is inaccruate, unfair and ludicrous. Hauling out Studds' scandal that happened 30 years ago, falls into the same category when talking about Democrats.

Davey, the simple point that you seem to be missing here is that NO particular political party has a lock on "virtue"...

I'm not a member of the GOP because I think that they are pure and virtuous; and I certainly hope that you aren't peddling the notion that the Democrats - due to the simple fact that they are Democrats - are..?? http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif

I'd love to believe that the Democrats are truly liberal in the definition of the word, and that they truly want to work for the betterment of our country (a matter of opinion as to what 'better' is I suppose), but I can't imagine that either of the two big-wig political parties aren't going to wave the big stick around when they have it in order to prosper their various agendas, and mostly their powerplays.
It's a nice thought, but sadly, the reality of modern American politics shows otherwise. There may be little buttkissing for a little while, but eventually it will be back the same old business. Cynical? Perhaps, but probably more realistic than thinking that either party will truly embrace the other for a mutually beneficial lovefest. Like the same people that believed Bush was a 'compassionate conservative', as soon as he had the power he did whatever he wanted based on his extremist conservative agenda, and I hate to say it, but I'm sure the same will happen again. The problem is extremism and a political system based not on the betterment of society, but a fight for the most power, money and control.
