Lets see how the dems handle this hot potato. Maybe they'll send France in to check it out.

There is nothing that the US government can do about Iran having extremely dangerous military armament whether you have a Republican, a Democrat, or a Mickey Mouse government. The North Koreans also have some nasty things, but none of them put together, with Russia,France, Britain, China, india, Pakistan have as many as your Old Uncle Sam.

After reading the above post, I more fully understand why we, here in the colonies, revolted.

Nothing like keeping up "International Relations", eh GQK?

Hello.

Bottom line, the countries who have nukes do not want the countries who do not have nukes to have them.
But, once a country has them there in not much that can be done.
The IAEA has nothing to inspect in North Korea, the nukes work just fine Thank you.
Once China gets its heavy water production in high gear they plan on porta-nukes.
Russia wants them on the water.

Strange question. Aren't the Repugnicants still in power? Neo-cons should really handle this in their typical manner. Send lots of ill-equipped troops in, bomb the place to smithereens and declare 'Mission Accomplished' about a week or two into the campaign. Then savage anybody who disagrees with them as Benedict Arnold. We won't be in for at least 6 weeks. Knock yourself out - what have you got to lose at this point?

What are you talking about. #Republicans have had the House for 12 years and The White House for 6. #The question should be "why did they let it happen?"

True. I remember we didn't have these problems during the Clinton administration. They just magically appeared when Bush became president.

There you go again, clouding the issue with facts.
Expect to hear this crap for the next couple of years. No criticism of the administration who created the problems, only criticism of the democrats who try to solve them.

Not to worry. The "Decider" is still Commander in Chief. We are all safe.

Maybe I'm mistaken, but the Republikrauts have Congressional majority power until January? They have plenty of time to straighten this out.

If they don't, I have an equal amount of faith in the new majority in Congress. I think the Democrumbs will squander their opportunity by focusing on 2008 instead of the issues that they campaigned on.

This is why we seriously need a 3rd political party in this country that represents the majority ... moderates ... those who gravitate towards the center of the political spectrum, and cannot be defined by such terms as neocon, neodem, libs, whatever. These are the folks that really keep the country on track. Those on either extreme end of the spectrum represent only a mildly entertaining sideshow ... example: QRZ! http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

Whats the problem? I don't know why people exercise themselves over the possession of nukes. I come from the country which first promoted the idea of non proliferation but I am now of the view that, given that so many countries have them already, a few more will make no difference.
All nukes means no nukes.
Before WWII there were conventional wars aplenty. When America dropped the bomb on Japan, All that changed. There was a great rush by the leading powers of the time to acquire this technology.
Since then we have had a lot of proxy wars. Fomented by the same leading powers.
What difference will it make if everyone has a nuke? And please don't give me any nonsense about rogue states.
Any nation with the intellectual nous and resources to build the bomb would not be so stupid as to sign their own death warrant.
More thought and less heat is what is required and less of the posturing.

Heres a good one.. stop pissin them off! Iran is going to do what Iran is going to do. period. Better to maintain some kind of stable relationship than one where they might send one of those things into our turf (which would be very tragic for them) but they may...just may be able to provide some stability to the area.

North Korea has nukes. What did the conservatives do?

Iran has nukes. The conservatives were in power for years now. What did they do?

George W. Bush. What did he do?

He went into Iraq, which really has nothing to do with these countries, and if anything scared them into getting nuclear capability to defend themselves against US attack.

I think I may have mentioned in an early post that if Iraq had WMDs Bush would not have gone within an asses roar of the place.
N Korea knew this, hence their haste in announcing that they had the bomb. Why should Iran be any different?

I would like to believe that but when there are countries whose leaders back suicide bombers #with the promise of lots of virgins in the great beyond, I worry.

Hello.

Suicide bombers with great promise are nothing new.
Japan had them in WWII in great numbers.
N. Korea has them in great numbers.
N. Vietnam has them in great numbers.
China has them in great numbers.
Pakistan has them in great numbers.
India has them in great numbers.
Just now the game is a bit bigger.
A single person coud carry a 60 pound nuke in a backpack and take out a small city.
One of the experiments I was involved with in the mid 70's was the conversion of a cessna skymaster to drone configuration.
That aircraft could easily carry a nuke.
Forget a bomb bay, it is a drone, simply set it off in place.
