Thanks, it's been a long time since I check my typing speed. #
Kinda felt like taking a CW test at an FCC office! # http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif #http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Only 3 of us have posted our scores. Does this mean people have done poorly?

BTW, if any of you gave 'em your email to get your scores sent to you, let me know if that generated a lot of spam.
I didn't because it looked to me like a spam-o-matic request

Doing the speed limit on a pretty typical California freeway. #(Some allow 70, they are talking about 75)
So I won't get stopped for speeding at least http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I got 52 WPM 92% accuracy. The first try. I would bet that with practice you and I could get better scores.
89 wpm, 97% accuracy. But then again, when I was much younger and worked as a word processor, I topped out at 101 wpm with three errors.
...and I didn't even shift into fifth gear. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

My brother does ninety with pretty good consistancy. Its amazing to see his fingers move.
I can imagine what 101 looks like.
That guy who came up with the typing software....Cortez Peters, I think was his name. Wasn't he something like 125WPM no errors or something?
125? Now _that's_ cruising!
I originally learned to type on a manual machine but quickly out-typed my teacher. It was a drag back then going for a clerical-type job interview since I'd invariably jam the typewriters by typing too fast. :S

Well, I remember the typing software back from when I was in High School.
I seem to recall him doing that rate on an old manual typewriter. I could be wrong though.
All I remember is watching him on video in typing class and when he would type freely (not teaching) he would fly and that dang typewriter would just tick he was going so fast.
He would use an old mechanical one and just make the thing sing.

I'm impressed with your speed WF7A.
Fastist hands / fingers in the West.
I just found out I can send CW faster than I type http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

I'll have to try this one next time I get home. It wouldn't be a fair test of speed on the laptop. I already know I would have more errors than wpm. Darn laptop keys are out to get me, they jump under my fingers two and three at a time. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

98 wpm with two errors = net 96 wpm.
The highlighted word coming up in red and being underlined drove me nuts, it's very distracting.

52 wpm with 1 error. I never did better than 25 in highschool. That was on an old manual typewriter with no letters on the keys.

Brings up a point to ponder...
Those of you who scored high are obvious well practiced touch-typists (Or if you scored high by hunt & pecking...congrats....that's pretty impressive).
Where did you learn typing? #I learned touch-typing in the 9th grade on a manual typewriter (with blank keys) before I could even fathom that I'd be making a living at a keyboard. #
Who took a formal course, and who just "picked it up" playing with a computer?
And how many of you work at a company where they'd send you to a typing course? #I don't think I ever have. #Back in my DEC-ie days we had people that really wanted to improve their typing skills and the company wouldn't pay for it.

Learned to touch-type in summer school between 6th grade and 7th grade, because they didn't offer this course during the regular school year. We also learned on manual typewriters with blank keys; built strong fingers.
I "graduated" that 4-week course going about 30-35 wpm, but got a lot faster as I kept typing stuff throughout school.
On a really good PC keyboard I can usually do about 110-120, but on this one, evidently not (my speed was clocked at 98 on the computer test from the link)...it has a lot to do with how much pressure it takes to depress the keys, and how fast they snap back. This KB is old and clunky, I should find a newer one and try it again...

74WPM @ 97%.
Error corrected it's 72WPM.
Not up there with the best of them but good enough.
BTW, I type a lot during the day (I'm a unix admin) so that helps.

61 wpm--that's after the 3 errors. I hadn't taken a typing test since high school, and that was 65 wpm a LONG time ago. I did find the highlighting distracting while taking the test. My speed got faster when I looked at the next word after the highlighting. Maybe if I went back and re-took the test, I would have a higher score.

I managed 51 wpm, but with 15 errors, my net speed was 36 wpm. I have to practice more!
