I'm at work, so... Probably none. Last year? I was working then, too, but I'm guessing "none." 2004? None. 2003? None. 2002? Apparently, we had maybe half a dozen, but I wasn't at home.

Zero. We bought candy and everything, but no takers. Most of the trick or treaters here go to the stores and get their booty there. We have a lot of Muslims here, and some don't allow their kids to trick or treat either.
Oh well, on a diet with 3 lbs. of candy. I guess I'll start the Snickers/Reeses/3 Musketeers diet. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

kakaka... There was an editorial in the local paper tonight, written by a local minister, blasting off about how celebrating Halloween was playing into the hands of Satan, etc.
I personally think it's what you make of it, although in this day and age you have to be a bit more cautious about it as compared to when I was a kid. But Halloween to me, as a five year old had nothing to do with occult practices or any of that crap. I came from a Christian home but we still had fun on Halloween doing the traditional Trick or Treat thing and dressing up in scary of goofy clothing. KID STUFF.
According to this minister though, we were all a bunch of pagans who had turned our back on Christ to celebrate the night of the devil... http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
Poo to him... and he's not gettin' any of my candy.

Had maybe 50 kids....
A lot of them, especially the girls, were pretty old.
If you've got breasts, you're too old to be trick-or-treating in my book. Halloween is for kids.
Still gave them candy, lest I be washing egg from the front of my house tomorrow.

5 Bags of mixed candies at Walgreens at 1720...1 bag left at 2000.
Lots of the little devils and even had a line at one time. But then I cut the 3 pieces down to 1 or 2 when I thought I'd run out.
Cute little gooblins they were.

I bought just short of 80 bux worth of candy this year. I was gone in about an hour.
Every year I swear I won't ever do it again. {I tend to lie about more important stuff sometimes.}
I don't mind so much when kids I think are to old to be trick or treeting stop by, but when they drive in from out of state and all get out of the car and go house to house,... well we all have our limits.
There were several bunches of kids I recognised from my daughters class who were collecting can goods. My daughter said they are probably using Halloween as an excuse to collect their winters supplys.
Even that I didn't mind too much. I gave them all green beans, I dont like green beans all that much anyway.
We had around 100...all kids from our subdivision. I'm sure there would've been more but it was 22°F outside. The funny part was watching the little brats...uh..kids stay warm by having their parent(s) drive them door-to-door with them hopping and out of the car with each house.

About 100. Mostly under 10. When we moved into the neighborhood in 1972 there were all sorts of little kids. Then they started growing up and then their parents retired and moved away. The neighborhood is "recycling" and there are definitely a lot of families with small children in the area now.

None.
When I first moved here I bought several bags of candy but learned that the kids never come down our road for some reason. I see and hear them on other blocks but they don't even turn onto our street. After a couple of years with no trick-or-treaters showing up I just gave up and stopped buying candy.

I had about fifty doorbell rings, but a lot of those had 3-4-5-6 kids each, so it was quite a few.
My own kids were at parties and stuff, so I was answering the door. My favorite was a threesome:
A very tall woman, about 6'2" or so, with very very blonde hair and high heels, dressed like a hooker.
A much shorter woman, maybe 5'5", dressed like a pirate.
A little girl, about five years old.
The little girl was the trick-or-treater, and the other two were her parents. The very tall blonde one said TRICK OR TREAT

...crap I hit the return key prematurely!
Anyway, the very tall one yelled TRICK OR TREAT in a very deep, masculine voice. Turns out he was the Dad, dressed in drag, and a very good job at that!
When I heard his voice I did a double-take.
The little girl was cute.
Some parents came by with babies in strollers! These kids are way too young for candy, so I have a feeling the parents have sweet tooths...

He knew it was Halloween, right?
Me being the character I am, just once when I open the door and a kid yells "Trick or treat!", I'm going yell back, "Trick!", snatch his bag of candy from him, and close the door.
That should earn me a gunshot or two at the porch lights.

Didn't have any, as usual. #But I wonder what apartment dwelling little ones do. #Maybe just in their own building or theirs and ther friends' buildings.
Ah, but halloween was all about trick or treating and the candy, and ringing doorbells the night before. #
What aroma is there quite like the smell of the bowl you dumped your trick or treat bags into? #The memory came back reading the posts. #mmmmmmmm....halloween candy with some apple thrown in!
BTW...we used to get peanut butter kisses in twisted black or orange waxed paper. Do they still make those?
Oh, and finding out how many pieces of bubble gum (always Fleer - Bazooka was too new-fangled then) you could chew at once. Chum Gum was too easy and considered cheating.
Then that gets all mixed up with the soon to follow Thanksgiving Day cooking aromas which directly leads to the scent of a Christmas...er...holiday tree, and the toys on the 25th. #In my case it included the aroma of American Flyer smoke.
[snaps out of it]
But this is about halloween...sorry. # http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
Thanks for the memories.

Lots of little ones came around and it was lots of fun. After dark, the older teens show up. At least one was peddling her cupcakes.
I live in an isolated community in the front range of the Rockies where the houses are quite far apart. We only have one paved road down the middle of a valley and many of us live up on the sides. I live over a mile from the paved road and 600 feet higher in elevation. Instead of "Trick of Treat" we have "Trick or Trunk." Those who want to participate park along one side of the road on the valley floor. The kids then go from car to car to collect their treats. Parents don't have to drive the kids from door-to-door and the whole thing only lasts for an hour. No kids from outside the community ever come here to Trick or Treat so it is easy to tell in advance the maximun number of kids (and candy). Of course I always buy extra so that some is left over for me! http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
We don't get any here. I sorta miss them from years past at other locations.
Remote property here with many problems like illegals coming through so they stay clear.
We have also had a heck of a problem with bears and pigs this year that always seem to come in the evenings.

We think we had 22. I was manning the door at one point and we had a real flurry of kids, all toddlers with parents so it got crowded and I forgot to count but estimated about 7 kids in the whole group. For the first year we didn't have any kids I considered too old to be out Trick or Treating, that is above Middle School age. I think I only saw one group without parents accompanying them. Several kids too small to walk so I agree with who ever made the observation that the parents must have had a sweet tooth. I did have one little gal just as sweet as could be carrying 2 bags and sounding really apologetic when she said my brother got sick today and couldn't come out. She didn't look much over 5 or 6 herself. I made sure to give her plenty. We also had 2 of the 3 sets of preschool age twins hit the door this yr 2. Guess the other set pooped out early and went home since the older brother and the dad hit us but the sisters were nowhere to be seen. Lots of cute little kids out last night and like I said very few older beggers this year.

I read about a candy in the mid-80's and wonder if they're still available. I've never seen 'em for sale.
The were called skullcrackers, I think, and the were skulls made of white chocolate and filled with strawberry or raspberry jam. Hence the name.
Did anyone ever see these?

None. I suspect too much paranoia these days.
I think in the local schools it is called a "harvest celebration." They allow parties for the kids, but images of witches and goblins are prohibited.
Although probably with pagan roots (as in the case of Xmas), it is basically a celebration of Christian origin.
Hallowe'en = All Hallows Eve(ning)
Hallow = holy
The eve (night before) of All Saints day: All Hallows Evening
All Saints Day = a religious celebration, legal holiday in many prodominantly Roman Catholic countries. Celebration of all saints, canonised or not.
One legend has it that the origin of the scary costumes was to frighten away the evil spirits, to clear the way for the day when the Saints come marching in.
Hallowe'en is traditionally observed almost exclusively in English-speaking countries, although commercial interests have observed what a money-maker it is, and signs of it are beginning to appear in Continental Europe.
Followed up by to-day, 02 November, the day of the dead. Feasts, parades and celebration in some places, in others, participants quietly attend a religious service and light a candle for their departed loved ones.

We had 35 or so. The XYL and I counted out 50 treats for the bowl to start with and we had 8 left at the end. I gave out doubles to 7 especially cute 6 or unders thus the total of 35. One particular cute little one was benig carried in a Snugglie by her Mom, a member of the Army dressed in BDUs, she got extra too (the mom that is).
The next morning I got up for the 6:30AM All Saints Day service, will miss the All Souls service today though.
